Labial Adhesion?

Has Anybody experienced this with thier dd? How serious is this and what can I do to prevent it from happening?

when DD was one month old my ped pointed it out to me. He told me it was very, very common and not to worry about it at all. He said it usually corrects itself when toddlers start potty training. If it doesn't, then there is a hormonal cream that can be used to treat it.

DD is now 2.5, and it has just started to correct itself. It freaked me out, and DH out, when we saw an opening where there wasn't one before, but we brought her to the Dr and he said its starting to open on its own, and this is a good thing.

So, most likely this is what will happen with your DD. There is nothing to do to treat it except for the hormonal cream, and its not recommended on a young baby.

Don't worry about it, its very common and normal.

both my girls had this. I used the cream that I was given for DD#1 and with DD#2 I researched before doing the cream and decided against the use for her. I personally would just let it be unless she starts having problems peeing. Chances are high that it will fix itself.

I have a son but when we went to the ped a while ago we had a circumcision issue and they said lbial adhesions and circ issues are very common and we used a steroid cream.

There is another method besides the hormone cream. My ped said to use a&d and massage the area of the adhesion at every diaper change. It will slowly separate over a few weeks.
