I would say $100 a week or have her pay the sitter a higher percentage so you pay a little less there each week.

This is probably what I'll do. I want to be fair and I'm not looking to make $, but holly crap. 12 hrs per week is like a free day of daycare and it will be a ton of extra work after I all ready worked a full day. I really will just want to come home and relax, haha. My DD will be in Kindergarten the babysitter will not be watching her just my DS and my cousins DS so I'll have her pay a little more toward the sitter she won't have to pay me directly. Thanks for all the opinions, it's an awkward situation!

JMO, people wont agree, as I would feel odd charging a family member or friend, what happens when its done for free is hostile feeling. You might be home anyway, but this not your child so it is not the same. People might not mean to but they will take advantage when done for free. You find the three hours turns to 4...I would work out a deal you both are comfortable with, this way it is a BUSINESS transaction even if its less then the cost of daycare.
I use to always help people out for free and in the end I always got kicked in the ass...

I am so confused as to why so many people on here think you should be doing this for free?! $100 is a very fair price. I have three little kids and while my mom and sister occasionally sit for free I would never expect my cousin to watch a toddler for 12 hours/week for free. That is a tough age, they are into everything.

It is a bit awkward but if she's comfortable with it, I would do what you said. If it was only one or two days after school for an hour or two I probably wouldn't charge her anything but I agree 3 hours per day, 4 days per week is going to be a lot on you during a very busy time of day. I wouldn't take money directly from her but having her pay the sitter a little more seems fair. Good luck figuring it out! It's a tricky situation.
