Hive type reaction to skin contact????

I will try to make this short..

Two weeks ago DS (23 months) had hive type bumps popping up on face back belly..I thought it was a reaction to cheese-its crackers..he never has had anything like that, so I thought it was from chemicals, food colorings etc. I treated him with benedryl for two days and they subsided. He never has had a reaction to foods, only his milk protein allergy which he outgrew.

Since then, he still has these random hive type puffy red marks pop up. It's seems to be a reaction to the pressing on the skin..for example, he rubbed his face and one popped up.

I spoke to ped..he is not concerned. Said it could be more of a sensitivity..and if he is not itchy or bothered by them, and if they go down and away in less than 20 minutes..it is not an allergy. I just can't understand why it is happening for the past two weeks..Nothing has been new, food, soap etc.

Any thoughts? He did have allergy blood testing at one year old and tested negative for all...fish/dairy/environmental..etc.

My Dd has super sensitive skin and gets little bumps on the back of her neck, between her shoulder blades and sometimes random ones on her face. We ruled out allergies. My ped suggested washing her with Cetaphil cleanser in the bath ( it's super mild, no smell at all). He also said to use aquaphor ointment after baths and Eucerin lotion in between. I've noticed a huge improvement from following his advice. I feel like he aquaphor protects her skin. It's greasy, so I only put a little on her face and back. I use the lotion on he rest of her body.

I also started adding a little coconut oil to her baths and her skin feels awesome afterwards.

I also switched to All Free and Clear detergent for everything in the house. Anything with fragrance seems to cause her skin to react.

They were tiny little bumps, on her face/jawline which could be hives. The spots on her back looked like mild mosquito bites, but not always round...or it looked like she scratched her back/ back of her neck. She also has the type is skin where if her nails are a tiny bit long and she scratches, she gets a little welt.

I get. Random hives all the time randomly. In all different spots. Last night a few on the back of my shoulder. I can never figure out what causes them. No allergies etc. They are super itchy and can last for days disappear and come back. I don't do anything to. Treat them.

My son has been having this. I think they feel the hive first and rub it. It seems like a reaction to skin contact but really is just them sensing the hive first. IMO

His allergist thinks it is cold hives and says she has been seeing tons of it recently. I thought back and each time he had come from cold air into warmer inside air.

I am thinking of switching allergists because I am not thrilled with ours. But mind did tell me that kids get allergies a little later. Which is why my sons rast test showed nothing a year ago but now is showing stuff. Also the blood test is a good first line but not as sensitive as the skin prick test.

I thought this too.. But i have seen one pop up after I made contact with him.. I held his cheek when i kissed him..And some times it was a result of him touching his face..but it's not all the time.. It does happen more after dinner, but I don't see a specific pattern with foods. I may just go very mild with his diet and reintroduce things..

My DS went through this for almost a month last year. He kept getting random hives. He got then so bad one time they called me from daycare I picked him up and took him to the dr. They were all over is face his lips were swollen. He had nothing different that he normally does. The Dr recommended I get him allergy tested so I did and all the tests they ran came back negative. The allergist told me that it could be viral. Like a virus is coming out of his system and it could last a few weeks. Two weeks after I went to the allergist the random hives stopped. DS had no other symptoms. No fever no cols. Nothing. So, maybe your DS is releasing a virus?
