When did ur lo start talking
My ds is 15m and says mama, dada, papa, aniyah, dog, and gaga. He babbles all day long and understands almost everything I tell him.

dd is 14.5 months and doesn't speak. she babbles and has a couple of "words", but that's it. she does understand a lot but there's no shaking her head yes or no... her ped appt isn't until the middle of feb so I don't know if he'll be concerned or not.

DS1 said his first word around 12 months. He had at least 50a words by 18 months, but wasn't really combining words until closer to 2. DS2 didn't say anything until 15 months. Now, at 18 months, he probably has 20-30 words and tries to repeat things I say to him. My pediatrician wants 5 words by 18 months. Many kids,especially boys, don't have a word explosion until 18-24the months. I wouldn't be concerned yet.

at 12 mo we had no words. at 16 mo we had a word explosion and he started talking a lot. By 18-19 mo DS was using multi-word phrases. By 22 mo he could sing ABCs and a few other songs. At 27-28 mo he could sing non-kiddie songs and has an enormous vocabularly. I remmeber being really worried that he had no words when friends of other kids, especially girls, were talking. each kid goes at their own pace. DS is probably ahead of the curve on speech now but it just took some time

I agree! My older DS speech was not great at 15 months but he also did not understand a lot of what I was saying, had poor eye contact, didn't point. That is what concerned me the most and I got him evaluated at 2. He is in a specialized preschool now and receives OT/PT. He really started talking a lot more at 2.
My younger son is 22 months. He understands so much, points, great eye contact, etc.. He had a few words at 15 months but because his comprehension was so good I never worried about speech. He had a word explosion around 20 months.
I would not worry till 2. If it is still and issue then definetely get him a EI evaluation.

Both of my kids didn't say much at that age but, understood things.
They each had a word explosion - first one was close to 18 months and the second one was around 22 months or so (we're there now with DS 2).

I think all my son said at 15 months was dog and woof woof. Not mama or daddy. He had good receptive speech, could follow directions and point to several body parts like nose, toes, etc.
He's 20 months now and I can see the word explosion starting to happen. Everyday he seems to have a new word or two. He's still not speaking in sentences or anything, but he's clearly verbally advancing.
This sounds just like my little guy

Dd had 1 word at 15 mo, less than 5 at 18mo and by 2 was talking in full sentences with 100+ words. I was stressing too!

15 months is still so young to talk IMO.
DD started saying a couple words around 16,17 months. At 20 months she started talking a decent amount & now at 2 & a half she talks non-stop. Doesn't always mean what she says but she says a lot

I agree to wait till 18 months. My DS talked early, but didn't put words together beyone a few phrases and at his 2 year apt I was already with a list of the 100 words he said, but so concerned about the lack of sentences (his babysitter mentioned EI, my friends, etc.) Literally, the week before the appt, he started talking in sentences, and now at 27 months in full paragraphs. Sometimes they don't do the steps as we think and make leaps, instead of small baby steps. Wait till 18 months, and then talk with your per again.
