Napping in crib

When did you start lo napping in their crib? Right now she naps in her swing and I'm nervous to move her naps to the crib.

I think it would be great though since we will be in Florida in movement for 5 days and will only have the travel bjorn crib....that and the trusty car ride

Ok clearly I need the nap too. I just quoted and edited my quote.

Napping in crib

This is still a work in progress for us. But we did get him to nap without movement. We started to decrease the speed of the swing over time until he would just sit in the swing to nap.

How old is your daughter? As long as she still fits safely in the swing, leave her! She'll let you know when she's ready to transition.

DS napped in his swing until he was about 5 months old. I was worried about transitioning to the crib, but one day he just decided he wanted to start napping on his tummy and rolling around, and that's when he started napping in his crib. He'd already been sleeping overnight in his crib since about 1 month old.

Napping in crib

She's just shy of 4 months. She's been in her crib overnight since 7 weeks.

Napping in crib

DD started daycare at 4 months and the only place to nap there is a crib. She got used to it quickly.

Re: Napping in crib

I had DS nap in his crib from the start. At night he would sleep in the bassinet, but i soon realized that he would rather sleep in the crib even at night!

Dont get me wrong, if he were to fall asleep in a swing i would leave him

Re: Napping in crib

I just transitioned DD to napping in the crib. She is 5 months old. It's now been one week and she has adjusted to it really well. Her naps are not as predictable as they were before as far as length- she always napped 2 hours before in the swing whereas in the crib it could be 1 hour, 2 hours or even 45 minutes. She is getting better at putting herself back down if she wakes up in the "middle" of the nap before she is truly done resting. So usually now it is at least 1 hour but still not totally predictable. With my DS, he transitioned at 3 months and was napping fine after about a week.

Re: Napping in crib

DS #2 is 3 months and just started daycare. At night he sleeps in the basinette part of the Pack-n-Play. Before he started daycare he was still napping in the swing. But at daycare, I was told they could not leave him in the swing for more then (I think it was) 20 minutes so they nap him in a crib. Apparently he does really well.
I am hoping to have his crib ready for him soon so on the weekends we can try him out there.
I can't remember how long before we napped DS#1 there. but if I remember it was probably about 3-4 months and I think he did pretty well too.

Re: Napping in crib

Transitioned from swing to crib naps at 5 months, went much better than I thought... naps were a little short at first but he got into it quickly, especially once he could roll on his side and belly and sleep.
