Napping in crib question...
my (almost) 4 month old will go down for naps in his crib great, but only sleeps 45 min-1 hour, where if he took the same nap in his swing it would be atleast 1.5 hours. I am thinking blackout shades or white noise might help...any thoughts??

White noise helps my DS. He can sleep without it, like at my mothers, but not as long. I would try it.

Re: Napping in crib question...
We always put on her classical lullaby CD for naps and bedtime. At 19 months old we still have the same routine. It's soothing and my DD knows when she hears the music come on it's sleep time. We also got room darkening shades in her room to keep the sun out because she gets a ton of sunlight in her room.

Re: Napping in crib question...
DS was the same at that age, we went through a few periods where his napping wasnt too long, it was rough.
But he was the same whether in his crib, or swing. I do have black out blinds in his room and a white noise machine.
For us, it was just a cycle. He would go a month or 2 of bad napping, then a month or 2 of 2 hour naps.... it was just how he was growing.
If he slept less than 90 minutes, I always rocked him back to sleep and put him back in his crib for another shot!

Re: Napping in crib question...
My DS is the same way....
When he was tiny, he would sleep in the swing for hours....at daycare now, he takes a 1-2 hr nap in the swing. At home on weekends or if I am home with him, to get him to nap for an hour in the crib is a miracle. It helps to have a fan blowing and for it to be as dim as possible in there. HTH.
Oh and it did take me a while of trying..I just had to keep putting him down in there. Eventually he got it.
