BTDT moms - uppababy vista - bassinet question
moms how long did your LO use the bassinet piece? i'm due in december.... i wont be going out on many walks and I think baby will probably be in playpen most of the time.
should i bother registering for the stroller & bassinet? or just the stroller & snap on car seat?

BTDT moms - uppababy vista - bassinet question
I don't have the Uppa but my stroller is very similar in size and specs (Bugaboo Cam). If you don't anticipate going on many walks then you probably don't need the bassinet. The Cam comes with it but in retrospect I likely would not have missed it. I did take DS on lots of walks (still do at one year) but he hated the bassinet. He had acid reflux and has always been incredibly nosy, too, so he just wanted to sit up and look around. So for me, bassinet would not have been missed. I used my carseat 99% of the time, even for walks.

BTDT moms - uppababy vista - bassinet question
I would just get the snap and go. I never used the bassinet.

I don't have the Uppa Baby, but I have the City Select and I used the bassinet feature a lot when DD was newborn. We used it for walks, going to the mall, she even slept in it one night when we had to stay at my parents house when our power went out.

Re: BTDT moms - uppababy vista - bassinet question
My bassinet for my uppababy still has the tags on it - DS just turned 3
We never used it for him because he was colic and needed to be sitting up rather than laying flat. He hated it when we layed him in it.
I was hoping to use it when we got pregnant with DC #2, but she is due in January and I don't anticipate walking outside with her that much at that time

The Vista comes with the bassinet, it doesn't come seperate.
I used the bassinet for a while, about 4 months. DS is 4 1/2 months old right now and we just stopped using it now that summers pretty much over.

Re: BTDT moms - uppababy vista - bassinet question
We used the Uppa Baby bassinet all the time. We live in the city and walk everywhere, so it was great for that.
I also bought the Uppa Baby stand, and would have DD nap in the bassinet during the day. I had a c-section, so it was great not having to bend over to pick her up.
She outgrew the bassinet around 3.5 months - it was a sad day to have to put it in storage
I did also buy the hamper inserts, so now the stand has become her hamper!

My uppababy came with the bassinet. Have they changed that? Is it an extra now?
I used it all the time when he was a newborn. He probably outgrew it around 3 or 4 months.

BTDT moms - uppababy vista - bassinet question
My uppabbay also came with the bassinet. I always used the bassinet for walks - I was terrified to leave the baby in the car seat too much for fear of flat head. I had a January baby and we used it all the time - my ped said that as long as it's above freezing you can (and should!) go out. We just bundled up baby and went out. I also liked using the mosquito net so no one could touch the baby. We switched to the seat around 4 months.

I switched between the bassinet and the car seat, bought the graco adapter so we never used the snap and go. My DD was colic, had reflux, was a preemie, all that jazz and she was fine in there with stabilizers so she wouldn't roll!

Re: BTDT moms - uppababy vista - bassinet question
I just want to say that DS was born in January and we went on SO MANY WALKS! Even if it's cold, you bundle up and go out. On many days that was the only way he'd sleep. And to keep my sanity, I walked just to get out of the house.
Actually, I walked with another poster on this site and we became great friends through our daily winter walks! Some days we'd just walk around for hours.
That being said, we used the snap and go for our walks and it was great.

Same here. I used it for local walks for four months and a snap and go for the car. Now I just use the vista frame as the snap and go.
