Dropping a bottle...
DS is 6.5m and up until recently was drinking 28oz a day (4, 7oz bottles) 7am, 11am, 3pm and 8pm. He also gets two meals of solids, one at 10am and one at 6pm.
For the past week or so he hasn't been finishing about an ounce of his 7am bottle and 2-3 ounces in his 8pm bottle.
At his last appointment the ped said to keep everything as is (he was still finishing all of his bottles at the time so this specific situation didn't come up) but if this continues would you just start doing 3, 8oz bottles and adjust his feeding schedule or just keep the number of bottles as is and adjust the amount in each?

Dropping a bottle...
Not sure what's right but my dd is 6.5 months and the ped just told me to keep her with 4 bottles per day as that is where most of her calories come from. She said i can do more/less with the solids but keep with 4 bottles. Maybe cut the bottles down an ounce or give less solids?

i dropped down to 3 about 7 months once she started having 3 meals per day

I would adjust the amount and see if he finishes it. If he keeps leaving some even in a smaller amount then maybe drop it

I would not jump to change anything. My DS fluctuated. If he was cutting a tooth or just crazy for a few days he would not drink but then it would even back out.

Or, maybe try 7, 6, 6, 7 ounces or whatever.
DS has bigger bottles for his first and last bottles, and smaller during the day. He usually takes 8 oz in his last bottle of the night, but sometimes only drinks about 5 oz of that. I still offer all 8 though.

I think I would just decrease the bottles. DS is staring the same thing a little (what a surprise they are doing something else similar! though i am not sure if it is temporary due to the crazy teething issues right now).
I was planning to start dropping the bottles to 6/7 oz each if it continues and when we add a 3rd meal.
