When did your dc know their colors
Ds knows a lot of colors and shapes Dd just can't get them right. They are 2.5
I can't tell if he just can't be bothered (it appears she just says whatever pops into her mind) or if she just really has a hard time with them.
If I have her slow down and think she still doesn't get them right.

Re: When did your dc know their colors
Hmmm- DH taught her a lot of the colors she didn't know. I think she was about 2.5 at the time She knew most of them at that point- and he sat with her one day and went over the ones she was having issues with and she knew them after that

Re: When did your dc know their colors
My daughter did the same thing at that age. She would just guess. And it was funny because she knew them before. Anyway, at 3 she knows all her colors and shapes. I wouldn't be concerned.

Re: When did your dc know their colors
I wouldn't worry. When I worked in daycare, there was a boy who was 3 and still couldn't get his colors. I don't remember when he leanred them but it took a really long time. We (teachers) thought maybe he was colorblind but he wasn't. it just took him longer.
dd was younger, maybe around 2 when she knew her colors, but that was the only thing she knew. She didn't/couldn't sing her abc's, shapes, numbers etc. So some just learn different things in different order

Re: When did your dc know their colors
By 2 DD knew all her colors and lots of other things most kids don't know at that age, but she was always very advanced, my DS is almost 1 and I feel like he doesn't "know" half the stuff DD used to know at that age. I think every child is different. But I also had a lot more time to spend with DD , play with her, read to her, sing to her , "teach" her stuff .

Re: When did your dc know their colors
At 22 months, he only says purple, red, blue, and green, but he does recognize others. We're working in them. All shapes are ovals, and for a while all numbers were 9, but he is beginning to add in others there.

Re: When did your dc know their colors
My DD is 21 months and I would say does not know colors well. She mixes them up a lot. Frequently she gets red. We are working on it. She can count to 10 but does not recognize individual numbers. Her strong point is letters. She knows about half of the alphabet already. Its probably because we have more alphabet things and I feel like we go over it more often.

When did your dc know their colors
At 2.5, my twins don't know their colors either. Ink ask them what color something is they'll just randomly say a color. But if they see something purple or orange, out if nowhere they'll shout out the color. They can count to 10 and sing their abc's but can't really recognize letters or shapes yet. I'm not too concerned. I feel like at three they'll pick up on it more.

Re: When did your dc know their colors
funny you bring this up, because my DD is the same way! She will just say whatever color pops into her head! She knows the color words, but rarely gets it right! I honestly think she just can't be bothered and doesn't have an interest right now! lol

Re: When did your dc know their colors
DS1 was probably 2.5yo, DS1 was on the younger side, before he was 2, maybe 20 months.
I got tired of watching Baby Einstein videos so I bought Preschool Prep set, Meet the letters, meet the colors, meet the numbers and meet the shapes. before he turned 2, he knew all the content of those videos. I apparently let my son watch too much TV! But I really do LOVE their line of videos, the Meet the sight words set had DS1 learning to read at 3.5yo!

When did your dc know their colors
He was just over 2 when he knew all his colors. He does pretty good with the shapes and numbers but still gets some confused. He just do colors, shapes, numbers and counting every day - it helps. He will be 2.5 next month.

Re: When did your dc know their colors
Thanks everyone. I actually had to being her to the ped yesterday so I mentioned it to the dr. She said to give her a few months and to actually back off her a little. She said she may just be answering quick to avoid being "wrong". She said stick with games on the iPad and other games rather than asking her. So I guess we'll see!

Re: When did your dc know their colors
It's so interesting to hear all the responses & see how different each child is. DD is 2 (& almost 2 months) & she knows pink, the other colors she guesses. Usually gets blue & green right but I think it's a coincidence.

Re: When did your dc know their colors
My son will be 2 in October and he does not know his colors yet. He can count to 10 (and a few beyond), he can copunt how many objects are in front of him, he knows his abc's, he speaks in full conversational sentances, but his colors--everything is blue or red I am not worried, he will get it when he gets it, we just keep teaching him. My friends DD is 9 months older than him and is still iffy on her colors so I am assuming it is something they master closer to 3 (in most cases ).
