any moms here with kids 21-24 mos apart?

I wanted to get some perspective on those moms who have kids approx 21-24 mos apart. I had IF issues with my first and I am going back to the doc to ttc #2. If one of our cycles work right away then our kids would be approx 21-24 mos apart. Originally I was going to wait another year but DH decided since he is older and it might take a while that we should try now instead of putting it off a year. Part of me is scared to death about the disruption in our family dynamic not to mention finances (right now we depend on family/babysitters and not sure that they can handle 2). And also how tough it would be since they are sort of close in age. So I just wanted to get some stories/advice from those moms who have BTDT with kids with this spacing. Thanks so much!

You do what you gotta do.
DS took 2 years to conceive (with help), DD was 2 months.

Is it hard? YES! At only 17 months apart, it was hard.

Would I do it again? Yes, without thinking about it.

Best spacing ever! My kids are very close and enjoy the same activities. They get along beautifully and DC1 doesn't remember being an only child so I feel there is very little sibling rivalry.

I would do it again!

My girls are exactly 2 years apart. I thought that the pregnancy was harder than actually having a nb and a two year old. They love each other and had very few jealousy issues.

My DS and DD are 22 months apart. Pregnancy (especially the 3rd trimester) was HARD. I was exhausted yet had to chase around an active toddler all day long. I ended up with bad Braxton Hicks because of it. Most days, I'd nap whenever DS napped so nothing got done around the house.
Once DD arrived, DS started acting up. The worst of it was the first 3 weeks but he eventually settled down and we fell into a groove. I even got them to nap at the same time for a while, which was awesome! It was actually not THAT bad the first few months. I found it got much harder once DD became mobile.
My kids are now 3.5 and 18 months old. They love each other to pieces. There is very little sibling rivalry, they play with the same toys and share well (most of the time). It was (is) very hard but like a PP said, I wouldn't change it for anything!

Re: any moms here with kids 21-24 mos apart?

My girls are 21 months apart. I found my second pregnancy was easier because I had some issues and on bed rest with my first. I was exhausted with my second but I was able to deal.

I found when my second was born my oldest dd just sort of ignored the baby. I found the newborn, early infant stage was fairly easy. I find this age now 3 years and 14 months to be harder. The fight over toys, and has even bit one another. But sometimes they are the best of friends and I wouldn't change that ever.

my boys are 22 months apart- we had twin boys the second time - no infertility

they are such buddies now - they all play nicely together. in the beginning i would nurse the twins and we always tried to find special time for our older son. He doesn't remember a life without them.

our babysitters adjusted - sometimes we had two family members at one time babysit - sometimes a teen and my aunt - but we made it work

now they are very close and 2 and almost 4 - they spend lots of time playing together nicely - sometime wrestling - they are actually the same number of days apart as me and my older brother and i loved growing up with him

DD1 and DD2 are 20 months apart.

It was much easier than I thought it would be.

I had already started potty training DD1 and she was fully trained (daytime) by her 2nd birthday.

DD2 and DC3 will be 21 months apart. I think it will be harder this time because DD2 isn't as "advanced" as DD1 was.

Exactly. I have two DD's that are 23 months apart also.
It is definitely tricky in the beginning but you do what you have to do. DD's love one another and get along really well. Trust me, they have their moments Chat Icon but for the most part they play together nicely. Now even just at 3 and 1, I would not change a thing.

ETA - I thought the transition from 2 to 1 was much easier than from none to 1. DD 2 just fit right into our lives and our routine.

DC 2 and 3 are 21 months apart. I actually liked it because I was still in the baby swing of things, compared to DC1 and 2 who are 31 months apart. I was a little rusty and DC1 was up my azz where as DC2 was just so chill because he didn't really care when 3 arrived. He was still young. I say go for it.

Re: any moms here with kids 21-24 mos apart?

My daughters are 21 months apart (right now 16 months and just turned 3 this month). It was not bad at all- when my second came my other daughter did not care less, I think it was good having them so close together because DD1 does not remember life without her sister. It was a very smooth transition. I decided to wait to potty train DD1 until a few months ago- I found it easier having them both in diapers and wanted DD to be completly ready and not feel like alot of changes at once.

Now I am pregnant with baby #3- this child will be 23 months apart from DD2.

Best of Luck- it's a wonderful thing seeing the kids so close together- laugh together and play together!
