The Journey to Fill Our Nest: Filled. Sharing "OUR" Story
I was an avid poster on this board 40 or so weeks ago. Many of you may not know our story so I thought I would update you all. This is an extremely shortened version of our journey!
In June of 2011, my husband and I bought the house of our dreams. Ok maybe not dreams, but our nest nonetheless. Of course the next step was filling the nest with lil’ chicks! In December of 2011 we decided to go to the RE because I knew I had PCOS.
I wanted things to happen, so we were proactive. Now, I will say that this RE we saw was a family friend but is well known on these boards. After my initial blood work, I came back as a carrier of Fragile X. (a whole other story) My DH also had some morphology and motility issues which at first they recommended IUI, but we went straight to IVF due to me being a carrier and IUI percentages not in our favor. We decided IVF because we wanted to do PGD on our embryos.
July 2011: Fresh Cycle, 5dt – BFN
November 2011: Frozen Chemical
March/April 2012: Fresh Cycle, frozen transfer – due to embryology lab error- Chemical
PGD was done on all of these embryos. At first just looking for the Fragile X marker. Then the third cycle the office paid for me to get all genetic testing because of the lab’s error.
I knew something else was wrong.. I went to see Dr. Kofinas at the suggestion of some very INSPIRATIONAL posters. He tested me right after my chemical for immunology issues, clotting issues and of course NK cells. The tests came back. They issues were not off the charts but, I had poor uterine blood flow, slight clotting issues and elevated NK cells.
I knew I HAD to see Dr. Braverman. In May of 2012, we went for a consult. He suggested I use the typical IF drugs along with Intralipids, Lovenox, and some other medication I can’t remember because endometriosis runs in my family.
I had frozen embryos which were tested for chromosomal irregularities, so I knew I had the most information about them. We decided we would use these embryos.
After being put on birth control to start my cycle- I ovulated! Yep, PCOS and I ovulated on birth control (which isn’t the first time that has happened) My DH and I took our embryos on a trip to the lab that Dr. B uses. Scary!!!!!!!!! We packed them up and put them in our car.
Well, needless to say three or so weeks ago our daughter was back in our car with us! This time as a little bundle of joy coming to live with us. Happy and healthy as can be.
I wanted to tell you all to never lose hope. You can get low, like we did after 3 failed cycles,… but keep the hope alive.
My last cycle included acupuncture and a closer look into my faith. I know now that God gave me these struggles for a reason. It is my testimony. Believe in yourself. Believe in what you’re doing. BELIEVE!!!!
Sorry for my lack of writing skills! I just wanted to put it out there now before life gets in the way.

I rarely say this .. maybe it's the hormones, but mostly I attribute it to your story of hope and strength....... your story brought tears to my eyes.  I'm so happy to read this amazing update. Sometimes all it takes is believing and finding the team of doctors who will work. Congratulations on the birth of your daughter!! Care to share the name of your baby bird?
