anyone have a child allergic to augmentin?
What kind of reaction did they have? What were you told to avoid?

not really allergic, but everytime DS took it he would vomit....i got the pill form and blended it in the magic bullet with bananas and strawberries..
IMO, it is one of the nastiest antibiotics, but i think its also one of the most effective. GL!

yup. severely. covered in hives head to toe within a couple of hours from when reaction started. then his face started swelling around the hives. ped gave him steroid shot,, i think, in the office. it was 2 years ago, my memory is a little vague.
he can't take augmentin or any antibiotic in the penicillin family- amoxicillin, penicillin are hte biggies.

Not augmentin but cefzil - blew up like a balloon to the point that he had marks on his fingernails from turning purple. Lips swelled, hives all over, and constant diarrhea. He is allergic to bananas too.

Yes, DD would be covered in HIves, then it started happening with ouother antibiotics, we had her tested and found she is allergic to pencillin

Same. Both kids swelled up w hives so badly, they had bruises all over. Took them to ER for steroid shots

Thank you! I spoke with her allergist last night. He thinks it was the meds. He is going to do a penicillin test on her bc augmentin is actually 2 meds. For now we are avoiding all cillins. We are lucky with her bc she tends to get smaller reactions. She had a mild case of hives.
