Crying before naps...
When does it get easier to put little ones down for their naps? DD is 6 mos and cries 5-10 min as soon as I put her down and eventually falls asleep. If she is in her swing or carseat she goes right out without a fight...must be the motion. But anyway will it get easier and when???

I find if I put DS's mobile on for about 10 minutes first, he has fun in his crib. Then, when he starts to get bored of that, I turn it off and turn on his white noise. He usually falls asleep pretty quickly on his own after that.

Honestly, she will probably go through phases of doing this. DS is 16 months old and he will be fine going right to sleep for a few weeks/months and then out of nowhere, he will fight it (and that will last a while). It has been this way since he was 6 months.

Crying before naps...
DS is almost 2 and he did it for a LONG time. Last month he stopped, and it was wonderful... just last week he started again.

I would say be consistent...try doing the crib ALL THE TIME &stop the swing. There will be a time the swing wont work anymore & then you will be in trouble. They will adjust and get used to the routine. At 6 months your schedule will change a few more times with teething... hang in there.

Thx everyone. Yes we do the crib 90% of the time but sometimes she cannot make it to bedtime and just does a 30 min nap in her swing in the early evening.
Ok and maybe a mobile would help. I have a music projector that we use now.
My other thought is maybe she is ready for more awake time. But overall she has alway cried for naps except for the first one of the day.

I agree with PP. Just keep up the same routine. Its so hard to hear them cry but 5-10 isn't so bad. DD gave me such a hard time with naps, then at 6 months it was like some sort of divine intervention and she would go down no problem.

This exactly! DD is almost 14 months and the shrieks of terror that have been coming out of her at naptime and bedtime are ridiculous! But a phase...last a few weeks and then she will go back to not crying. Sometime it last 30 seconds, other times its 2 mins, other times close to 10 mins.

No clue but dealing with that over here as well (5 1/2 mo old DD). Some days she goes down w/o a peep, other days it's crying and crying. I usually go in and rub her back/give paci. It's very frustrating being so inconsistent!! Plus, she won't even sleep in her car seat anymore, nor the swing!  Stroller is hit or miss, and never lasts longs. I'm frustrated!!!!

DD is 21 months and still cries for naps for a few minutes before she falls asleep.
