tmi ... how does your ds go potty in adult toilet if they sit?

and how do you teach them to pee standing?

my 3yo is tall and big, and portable potty seems uncomfortable.

I need tmi ... kind of details I just dont get it, and for all intensive purposes im a single mom

Funny... I was going to post something similiar. DS is 3.5. He sits when he goes potty bc he's pretty small so it's just easier. He knows the drill and says... "Peepee down"
Then pushes his penis to point down to the water. At home we have a potty seat. He sometimes uses that and sometimes uses the regular potty. When we are out he sits on the regular potty. One hand on the side of the seat for balance and the other on his penis pushing it downwards. When he is taller we will work on standing and aiming to the water in there. Lol
Of courses in a public bathroom he knows the drill that I cover the whole seat.
My only issue is the dripping when he's done. I hate the drip in the underwear. Sometimes he waits and other times it's a rush to put his underwear and pants on bc he's playing and doesn't want to miss anything.

my DS is 3.5 and i still have him sit. i'm not ready to tackle the pee standing up issue. but i have him stand in front of the toilet with his back to the toilet, hands on both sides and he pulls himself up. then with one hand pushes his penis down and closes his legs. it's working so far. i never have him use a potty seat...he always goes on the actual toilet.

DS is 3.5. DH taught him to pee standing about a year ago. He made kind of a game out of it- threw in some toilet paper and told him to try to pee on it. DS picked it up right away, but I still have to remind him to pay attention sometimes and not pee on the rim. (if you want more details of the "teaching" part, I can ask DH.)
DS needed the stepstool until a few months ago, so we still had to lug that around to family houses and anywhere we didn't want him to stand on the seat. If your DS is tall, he may not even need it.
And, for poop, he still won't sit directly on the big bowl so we have a fold-up seat that I carry when we are out. It's not as comfy as the cushioned seat we have at home, so I call it the "magic" potty seat (DS loves magic) and he's ok with it. I can't wait until I don't have to carry it anymore!

I have him sit, spread his legs far apart & bend over. The bend usually arcs the pee stream into the toilet.

For poop, he sits any way & bends over (helps him push).

DS is 2.5 and sits to do both. when it's #1 he points and holds his peepee down so it goes in the toilet. he also scoots as far back as he can on the toilet seat and holds on to the sides with his hand so he doesn't fall in.

as to teaching standing up, DH showed him. He alternates between sitting and standing. when he goes standing up he says "i want to go peepee like daddy"

after he's done, he rips off a bit of toilet paper "not too much" he says and wipes himself and the flushes (which he loves to watch) and then washes his hands (with some help)

at this point, he kicks us out of the bathroom and goes by himself although he leaves the door open.

My 3.5 year old learned sitting but within 4 days I started with standing up bc it was easier tor him to do alone.

We made a game out of it. You could put some cheerios in the toilet & ask him to try to shoot them. We did it as if you stand to go, you will make bubbles. Just make sure they are standing flush (thighs hitting bowl) & aim isn't issue.

We did the peeing sitting down for a long time. He was trained 2 months after he turned 3 and we only switched to peeing standing up a little after he turned 4. I put a little piece of toilet paper in the bowl and told him to aim for it. He picked it up pretty quickly.

As for the sitting on adult toilets, I used to carry around a portable potty seat that you put on top of the adult one, but now that he is bigger he just spreads his legs wide and holds onto the edges of the seat if he needs to sit down.

When he was sitting we taught him to push his pee pee down. As soon as he was tall enough to stand and be able to pee in the toilet we taught him to hold it and pee in the toilet (we didnt use cherrios bc peeing like daddy and like a big boy worked well enough) though it does get messy once in awhile when he doesnt pay attention

My sister has this little plastic thing that attaches to the seat and goes infront of his penis to keep the pee in the potty. I have to ask her where she got it.
