When do you stop with the sippy cup?

I'm full of sippy cup questions today!

When do you switch over to a regular cup? I'm pretty sure DD could drink from one now (she's just turning 2) but I wouldn't dare take my eyes off of her with it. I'm just wondering how long they use them for?

Also, what do they graduate to? A regular plastic cup with no lid? DD drinks just fine from the straw sippy cups, but I still consider that a sippy. We don't use the straw cups often because I find them to be more annoying to clean and they tend to leak a bit. Should she be only using those now?

DS will be 5 in October and DD will be 3 in May. They can both drink out of a regular cup fine. However, I still put their water/milk in a sippy cup for the day so that I don't have to deal with spills and messes. It keeps their drinks colder longer as well. They don't mind.

Dd is going to be 3 and she still gets straw cups. She can drink from regular cups no problem mi try and give reg cups when I know shes actually sitting for a meal. Dinner and sometime lunch.

Prolonged use of the sippy is not recommended in terms of speech development, so I would definitely switch her to all straw cups. Aside from that, as long as you know she is capable of drinking from an open cup, it's fine to keep using straw cups to avoid spills and messes- that's what we do!

My son is 3 and half and he uses sippy cups only with milk cause i dont want it leaking out onto the rugs or furniture...anything else he drinks it with a red cup with a straw

DS has been using a cup with a straw since before his 1st birthday. He can drink from a regular cup(with no lid or straw) but I use straws to avoid messes. DS just turned 2 today.

DS is almost 21 months. for a couple of months now when we are home i give him a regular cup with a straw. He can drink it without the straw but sometimes gets carried away and spills. when we are out he either gets a sippy or plastic cup with top and straw from whatever deli or restaurant we go to

Ds never took to a sippy. He went straight to the straw and now at 22 months he drinks from a glass. I think he took to it because i would give him sips of my water from it. So he gets a real cup at the table but a straw cup when we are out. Like pp said, i don't worry about spills and he will use a straw as an adult rather than the traditional sippy cup.

I send a sippy to daycare with DS because it's easier and if we are out I bring a sippy. However, at home at the dinner table or if he asks for a drink he gets a small kiddie cup. He's 3.5 and I've been doing this about 6 months.
