Is facetime a good or bad idea for talking to toddlers from a 3 night vacation with dh?

This is our first trip away besides a couple of local one nighters.

Kids are 1 1/2 and 3.

Do you think using facetime might actually just upset them?

Depends on the kid. My boys love doing FaceTime. When their grandparents call or even if I have to go into work DH will do FaceTime and it actually helps when he sees me.

Funny thing is they are better with FaceTime and then saying goodbye then when we leave them.
You can always call and feel it out. If the kids are occupied and having fun I wouldn't suggest it, but if they were asking for you then maybe seeing them may help them.
When my boys are with their grandparents they are fine without us. Lol

I think it could. I do facetime with other family and DD and she never wants to disconnect and when we do its tough. DH has facetimed with DD and me before and he's said she's always more upset at the end than she was before we facetimed.

I wouldn't bother with it. They will be totally fine. Call to check in, but don't be surprised if they don't even get on the phone. They will probably be so busy having fun.

I would not. When we went away & the boys were 3 & 2, the first day I called & my youngest cried when he heard my voice. I think its better to call & check in but not talk or see them.

When I took my boys to our summer house & dh stayed home to work, we facetimed him but the boys got so upset & kept asking him when he was coming.

My son is 17m, lasy month my mom was away (he was 16m at the time) and wedid face time, he got upset and confused. At first he liked it but then he started crying and it was pathetic. My nephew who was 10m old LOVED face time, so I am not sure if it was age or personality, I guess it is worth a shot but could make YOU feel sad if they react badly.
