Very bad night turned good! ...Long
I was rushing to get on the train and managed to get on a Long Beach express - wrong train, the one I wanted, a Babylon express was on the other side of the platform. I realized this after the train I was on was rolling out of Penn station. DH is on the right train. I've been doing this commute for 4 years and feel like a total moron.
So I figure out that if I get off at the first stop - Lynbrook I can catch a train that comes from Flatbush and get to Lindenhurst (where we live) at 7:15 - only about 15 minutes later than I would have if I got on the right train.
At Valley Stream the train I'm on stops dead and loses power. We sit and sit and sit, they announce what's going on and open the doors and let people off. Once we heard that the entire line was shut down (and still is as of 9:45 pm) I call my Mom and she and her husband come and get me and drive me home.
Luckily I ended up on a train that made it into a station. DH is still on a train (at 9:45) that is stuck between stations. I'm pregnant and feeling so crappy today I think there was some force that made me get on the wrong train because I made it home. I have dinner waiting for him and I'm ready to go pick up DH at whatever station he ends up in.
Just wanted to share how a stupid mistake made my night so much better than it otherwise would have been.

I was on a 6:42 from Flatbush to Long Beach and we had to vacate at Jamaica. I took the Airtran to JFK and took a cab to Long Beach - I'm so glad I did - I can't believe they are still having issues. Poor folks.

Glad you got on the "right train" 
During my last month of commuting (8most preggo) I got on the wrong train repeatedly, slept through my connection at Jamaica, got off at the wrong station. It was a regular occurence for 3 weeks.
I explained to my husband that I had been commuting for over a decade so my record wasn't that bad. He said "In 15 days, you've made it home four times."

Thanks. I only thought of it because I was at JFK on Monday and I had taken the Airtran to the train. It just clicked that there would be taxis at the airport.
Also, Long Beach isn't that far from JFK. It was like $35 - well worth it. If I lived really far out, I don't know what I would do.

DH got out of work late and was behind the mess. He hopped a train to Huntington and I picked him up there.
Glad you were okay. What time did Bob get home?
