is this separation anxiety
My usually independeny almost 9 month old suddenly doesnt want me to put her down in her pack n play with all her toys. She usually plays for an hour by herself in there. Now she wont let me put her down for 1 min without screaming and crying her head off. She turns bright red loses her breath total tantrum. Then shell stop for a min play with her toys and then start crying again. Sometimes shell stop until she sees me then starts again.
She has never done this before unless shes sick. But she doesnt appear to be sick, her nose was running a lil yesterday but nothing else. No other symptoms.
Is this separation anxiety?
Just to add we just got back from vaca where she was always with either me or hubby could that have anything to do with it? We were only away 5 days.

This is around the time separation anxiety occurs. I am going through with this as well with my 9mo.

I know - it can be really hard. Honestly, I sometimes sit her in front of the TV with a snack - she loves Mum Mums and club crackers - if I need to get something done. Or I'll let her cry for a little bit. Now that she's able to stand up, she stands at her gate holding on crying into the kitchen. It is actually super cute. LOL.

is this separation anxiety
I put her in her jumperoo and put on cartoons, she started to cry until I sat next to her. Then she stopped. She didn't cry when I needed to walk away though so maybe it was the PNP. I don't know.
What else can I put her in that she can play safely but see the tv? Anyone have one of those octagon things? She stands on her own as well while holding onto something but sometimes she tosses herself on her butt or she loses her balance and I have hard wood floors so I need something safe for when she falls. Any suggestions?
I would try a seat but she HATES being strapped in so that wont work at all.
I let her cry and she stopped after a few minutes when I put the tv on. She was standing in her PNP watching tv. Then about 10 minutes later she started crying again. This is very frustrating. then my mother came over and she was fine. She let my mother stay with her and let my mother put her down and she was fine. I don't get it.

Re: is this separation anxiety
I have the letter foam mats and then a gate around it - makes a large play area for her and I fill it with her toys. Here are some pics.

Re: is this separation anxiety
Got the gate on Amazon
We love it. Db likes it and doesn't really complain when I put her in. Sometimes I have to go in there and play with her, but I like to do that sometimes. I just like that I can put her in there with a ton of toys and trust that she's safe if I need to step away for a little bit. It's a bigger space and gives more freedom to move around than the PNP. It's possible your dd is feeling cramped in the PNP?

Re: is this separation anxiety
Same thing here DD is starting to just want me and will only go to the Daycare staff. Otherwise she isnt wanting to be alone. I try to put her down and if I have something to do in the other room i will kepp talking to her as I am walking away telling her where I am going and where I am. It works most of the time for now.

Re: is this separation anxiety
It is definitely the age for separation/stranger anxiety. DD has it to a point, and she will be 9 months tomorrow. She cries whenever someone new or who she doesn't see often tries to interact with her. In the house, she can often be my shadow.
As far as the octagon gates, we actually just took ours down. My DD only liked it until she was mobile, then she hated being caged in. She would just pull up on the gate, stand there and cry, even with all her toys in there. We took it down over the weekend, and rearranged the foam mat in a different part of our living room, with all of the same toys on it, and now she sits there and plays. She can see me when I'm in the kitchen, and once in a while crawls over to visit, but she is much happier knowing that she can move around.
When I really need DD to be contained now, it is much harder. I put her in her exersaucer or crib if I need to use the bathroom. She will sit in her infant-to-toddler rocker or the highchair for a few minutes with the TV on, but really hates being strapped in otherwise. They are at the age where they want to explore.

Its definitely possible she feels caged in. She seems to be doing a little better today but I was able to go out with her today and do a few things. She enjoys being outside. So hopefully that helped her a bit. But Im going to look into the octagon I think she would like having more space. I also need to get her some new toys she could possibly be bored as well.
thanks a lot for all the advice! and thanks cacarina for posting the gate!
