Separation Anxiety and poor sleeping? - Help!

I was wondering if anyone noticed a correlation between your DC developing separation anxiety and their sleeping habits getting bad.

I am starting to think that DS is developing some separation anxiety and that is why he is having a very hard time going to sleep for us at night or during naps. He is sleeping like a baby at day care and doesn't give them any problems. Meanwhile he stands in his crib forever crying with us.

Last night DH got him to lay down and he put his head down as long as DH stayed in his room. He would lift his head up to make sure he was still there. Then if DH went to leave DS would get up and start crying.

If you did notice this, was there anything you did that helped?

Long shot, but what does he sleep on in Daycare? Have you tried putting him in same thing at home?

My dd has actually just started this for the past week or so. She has always went to sleep on her own without a problem and now she will cry for a little while and keep looking for me until she cries it out (which thank god isnt taking too long). I read up on it and they said one thing that helps is to do some of your bedtime routine in the baby's bedroom this way they feel that their room is more than somewhere they are just supposed to sleep in. He sleeps on a little cot that is about an inch or 2 off the floor. We don't have one at home, but it is an idea to consider if things don't improve.

It's probably just a phase that you'll have to wait out, or he could be teething. Everytime DD has hit some sort of milestone (sitting up, crawling, standing up) we have had a week or two of screaming in the crib. Hopefully it will pass soon!
