For those of you who changed formulas.....

We just changed DD formula this week. She is now on Gentlease. I know she is still adjusting but I'm concerned. She only does #2 1x a day. Ped was not concerned. Also, she still has gas but it doesn't both her at all. It's also quite stinky but if she's comfortable we don't care.

My questions for you...
-How long do you need to wait to see a difference with the new formula?
-How much of change should I be expecting?
-If you were or are using Gentlease, did your DC have a positive experience?

Were currently on gentlease due to a reaction to the infant formula. Our DS's gas STINKS. He poops 1-2 times a day, usually1.
It all depends on why you switched and age of your child as for what change you see. As they grow they tend to have more control of the bowels so that may be the decrease in number of times. As long as its not hard shouldnt be an issue.

Ped said we'd notice a change within 48 hours and we did, exactly in that time frame.

When we changed to gentlease we noticed a change in his fussiness soon but his poop also changed for a few days and then was normal again.

Less fussy (not totally gone but much less) and poo'ed at least once every two days vs straining and struggling every two days.

-If you were or are using Gentlease, did your DC have a positive experience?

Loved it... switched back to normal lipid around 9m I guess.. per doc

For those of you who changed formulas.....

DS is on Gentlease - it took about 5 or 6 days to "kick in" but after that time frame, he was significantly less fussy / gassy.

If it's not working, you might need to use a soy based formula instead. My ped recommended that if i do switch to soy, i should mix it in gradually (do 4oz gentlease and 2oz soy the first day or two ... then increase the soy amount every few days till it's all soy)

We use Gentlease and found it helped a lot. I noticed DS pooped less when we changed in the beginning too but it eventually went back to normal.

-How long do you need to wait to see a difference with the new formula? 24-48hrs after we started he stopped crying like he was dying after eating. I'd say about a week to notice a significant difference.
-How much of change should I be expecting? I would say be realistic - its not going to make the gas/fussiness go away. As the baby matures I think it gets better. If you are not happy with the change - perhaps see the ped again or even a GI specialist.

-If you were or are using Gentlease, did your DC have a positive experience? DS has been on gentlease since early on - Id say maybe 2weeks and he's about 10weeks now. He's definitely less fussy and gas is manageable.

I do give him gas drops, chamomile tea and gripe water on somewhat of a routine.
