crying in the car seat

DS is 3.5 months old and we just switched over to the convertible seat (he's outgrown the infant seat already). However, the second i put him in the seat (before i even put on the seatbelts), he starts crying bloody murder. He stops when the car starts moving.

Please tell me this is a phase and he'll get used to it eventually? It's so stressful to go anywhere because i hate to see him cry (even if i know it's a BS cry)

DS will be 6 weeks on Tuesday and he does the same thing! I think he may be uncomfortable because since the weather is cold I try to bundle him up. As soon as the car starts moving he falls asleep.

My second dd cried in her carseat from 3-6 months and still cries at night time when driving in dark. It's sooo hard. I switched her to a convertible at 4 months and switched her back to the infant seat at 6 months. She does seem a bit better in her infant seat.

Probably a phase. My oldest daughter cried the whole time she was in her carseat(even the whole time on long car trips) for the first 14 months of her life! She HATED the seat. Then one day she just quit crying. It was a LONG phase for her

my dd hates the car seat. she usually starts getting fussy as soon as the straps go on. and now that shes 6 months she starts arching her back already ! its been this way since we literally left the hospital lol. it was a long ride home that day. for whatever reason she just doesnt like the carseat, not sure if its the restriction or what! its gotten better since she was younger but i always have to make sure shes fed before we go anywhere otheriwse its bloody murder in the car lol. at 6 months i still ride in the back with her when dh drives incase she acts up lol. i just wanna sit in the front seat again !! it will get better. hes prob not used to the new car seat. maybe get some new toys for the car or a mirror that plays music.

Ds2 is 11 months and has cried in the car since day one. We switched to the convertible early on thinking it would help but it didn't. It makes driving so unbearable, I just want to claw my eyes out.

OMG how does a 3.5 month old outgrow a carseat. How much does she weigh?

I recommend just getting the bundle me for the car seat. Then you won't need a coat. If you ever go to the car safety places they tell you not to use a coat. When they test the car seats it is having the strap up against baby. If baby has coat on...the belts are not fully doing there job

The only solution for us was a DVD player with baby Einstein or Elmo.
Shes hated the car from day 1. Once we put the DVD on, we were actually able to leave the house and not hear the screaming. It's a lufesaver

Are you sure he has outgrown the infant seat already? They usually got to at least 25 lbs. At that age, i would think the baby would still need the support of an infant seat in terms of neck and trunk support.

My DD started doing this too when she was a bit older than your DS.. it was a phase, she has not done it in month--good luck
