If you went to Disney...
I bought light spinners, Disney stockings, and other Disney themed merchandise from Walgreen's dirt cheap (cookies, etc.). We went at Christmas time though. Then each child had their own $50 gift card for souveniors in the parks that I bought from the Disney Store, and once it was gone, it was gone.

I didn't. To me half of the fun is buying the crap they have there. I love that stuff. Waste of money yes, but I love shopping in the souvenier stores there.

This! DS recently asked for a stuffed Pluto. I know we are going to Disney in March so I told him to wait until we are there. Buying overpriced souvenirs is part of the fun.

We found autograph books in the dollar section of Target, and we found Disney t-shirts on clearance at the Disney store at and Target before we left. So, they wore their Disney shirts at Disney and they were none the wiser.
They did get toys/dolls from Disney while we were there, I just couldn't say no.

Yes, I bought both kids costumes to wear to the park and disney character pjs and sunglasses and hats. I figured they would want to have this stuff there and it was MUCH cheaper to buy when disney was having a sale or with a promotion code than at the parks. It was an exciting way to kick off the vaca...

We buy everything there.
I do buy new toys and books to entertain the kids on the plane and hotel room. I took some new disney cars and toy story but it was just coincidence that they were disney related.

Oh, I absolutely plan on spending a ridiculous amount of money there! I think that is the fun of it too. I was just trying to think of stuff to make it fun before...maybe pajamas they can wear the night before, a shirt to wear on the plane...stuff like that

We didn't bc my girls know not to ask for everyting when we go out. We don't normally buy things so they almost never ask. Before we go wevagree in advance that over the trip they can get say one hat, one shirt and one doll or whatever. Last trip we planned to buy something the last night but DD#1 got sick so we didn't shop. They only got a hat the 1st day of the trip.
I have a friend whose child always asks and gets upset so she goes shopping at home before the trip and each morning pulls out a new small item. She says she spends less that way and they get a surprise each morning so no nagging. So I guess it depends on the kid.
This year I was thinking of maybe giving each a gift card with a set amount on it and saying this is what you have to spend when it is gone that is it.

If he likes pluto stuff my DD got on her 1st trip a small backpack with a pluto doll in it that you can carry around or take him out. I am pretty sure I saw it on our next trip. Really cute.

We bought tee shirts with characters on it at the Disney store outlet in Woodbury Commons, as well as a Micky head pen for autographs.
At Toys r us in the dollar section, I got Princess tatoos, lip gloss, Cinderella sparkle body spray and a discounted snow white halloween costume ( instead of spending a fortune on the Bibbity bobbity boutique.)
It made my lil girls day when Snow White helped her with her crown and told dd she loved her princess dress better bc it had sparkles!!!

I should add For this trip I did by her 2 princess costumes from the Disney store to wear at Disney and then we bought a 3 rd one there that she picked out and wore on the trip.

But I should add DH started that tradition many years ago with every vacation. It's such a nice thing

Oh I see what you are saying. The only thing I brought (but had) was princess costumes for the breakfasts. But my DD was young so we didnt tell her too far in advance so we didnt do anything beforehand.

Not a thing. I felt that there would be sooo many things she would ask for once we got there, and I would have to pick and choose, that there was no point in spending cash in advance.
