paying for daycare: licensed v. not
if we go with a woman that is cash under the table it costs $3000/yr less than a licensed day care with a tax id number.
is this a wash? do you think there any difference at the end of the year?

If she is unlicensed, she doesn't need to follow NYS rules and regulations? Is this woman a friend of yours? If not, I would not send my child, regardless of how inexpensive she is. I found a NYS licensed day care for significantly less then most "name brand" ones. I'm sorry, but it's not worth it to me.

No matter how cheap it is, if it isn't licensed that is a no go in my book. Are you referring to a person babysitting out of their home (not a daycare)?

im talking about a family friend watching my kid. im not asking about whether or not to use unlicensed.
im simply asking about the money aspect.

I get $5k taken from my paycheck pretax for daycare flex spending - it doesn't save me $3k so the unlicensed is cheaper.

Okeyyyyy then. Licensed day care doesn't save me $3000 so you are better off wit the family friend. Sorry that I misunderstood your original question!
