Anyone's baby hate pureed baby food?

DS hates baby food. I make it for him, so maybe it's my cooking He spits it out & makes such faces like he's eating dirt. It;s been miserable feeding them to him, that I only do it once a day (he's 7 months now) Anyone just drop the purees & go directly to finger foods?

I didn't skip purees, but Google baby led weaning. There's a ton of information on skipping, what foods are best to try first and other information.

My DD HATED purees!!!! I introduced ceral just shy of 6 months. She hated it. Moved onto purees. The only thing she would eat somewhat was bannanas and sweet potatoes. I was miserable and so was she. Then I gave up on the purees and went right to table food around 7 1/2 months. Just started giving her bits of anything we were eating. The difference was amazing. Now at 14 months she eats EVERYTHING! She eats all fish (no shellfish), chicken, beef, curry, vegetables, chili and so much more. It has made our lives so much easier, no baby food or special meals for her. She eats what we eat always.

That was DD. I was so excited to give her purees and start making her food and she didn't want to have anything to do with it. She'd literally shove her hands in her mouth and scrape it off her tongue while gagging. We went straight from oatmeal to finger foods around 6-6.5 months old. Like the PP mentioned, we just gave her bits of whatever we were eating. She's two weeks shy of 1 year old now and she LOVES to eat. She will eat everything and anything with the exception of applesauce and bananas.

My DD loved all the veggies and fruit but haaaaaated any of the "meals" with meat. She would gag just looking at it........I don't blame her, puréed meat!!! Yuck!! So at 6 months old we just went over to soft table foods........shredded chicken, scrambled eggs, meatballs, cheese, etc. That food she loved!!

I made my own baby food as well and DD really didn't care for it... I really think it was because everything was so plain. Recently I started feeding her whatever we are eating and she opens her mouth for everything now... For us, we could have skipped purées altogether and been fine. She's 7 months and has eaten beef, lasagna, spaghetti, etc and can't get enough of it.
