cereal
Did anyone not give cereal? My daughter is 5 months and we just started her on rice cereal and she will not eat it!! I even put fruit with it and she just spits it out! I will try it a few more days and then try oatmeal but was just wondering if anyone skipped cereal all together? TIA

I tried it for like 2 days, and then went right to veggies and fruits. I would mix cereal with her fruit sometimes after that. You dont have to start with cereal.

You don't have to start with cereal. Besides checking for allergies (which you can do at any age) there is no medical reason for starting with it. Some say babies sleep longer, or get used to eating easier because it is mixed with formula or breast milk, but its different for every child.
When you say spits it out, is it her tongue thrust reflex pushing it back out? Does she do the same thing if.you give her straight fruit? If so, she might not be 100% ready for food yet. Maybe wait a couple of days and try again.

I agree about waiting a bit and trying again. Mine wouldn't eat until 6 months. Then, she ate everything.

We skipped rice cereal , and did oatmeal instead. At the beginning, DD preferred the cereal very liquidy. Maybe add some more formula to the cereal and see if that makes a difference. They say it should be like mustard, but when you think it looks like mustard, add a little more formula.

We did rice cereal & oatmeal but he didn't like it plain so I would mix it with sweet potato or banana or apples. I do not believe you NEED to give cereal though.

Same, he hated cereal and it constipated him.
ETA: We waited till 6 months.
