Moses Basket??
Question for you moms... my SIL is swearing that I MUST have a Moses Basket for DS when he's born and that she carried her daughter from room to room in it and would move the stand and it's so much easier than a bassinet... which I guess makes sense since it's so mobile... but everything I have read says you're not supposed to carry the baby around in it. Does anyone have one? Do/Did you carry your LO around in it while they're sleeping??

I had one with DS and will be using it again with this baby. I loved it! However, I NEVER carried DS around in it, I would take him out to move it and put him back in after.

Re: Moses Basket??
My sister is using one but I actually think it is a flimsy piece of junk. The are SOOO many better options out there IMO.

Moses Basket??
My bassinet for DS had the Moses basket. I used it a few times outside of the stand, but I would NEVER carry him in it separately. In fact it specifically said NOT to transport child in it.
I don't think its worth buying one.

Re: Moses Basket??
Thanks ladies! That's kind of what I thought when I saw the thing... and especially after reading that you shouldn't carry your baby in it I don't know why she would (well I have an idea). I thought maybe there was some "pro" to having one that I missed/couldn't think of. I honestly will probably just stick with a regular bassinet for my room... I've witnessed babies napping in everything from bouncy chairs to swings to car seats and pack n plays in my friends homes and they would just pick the baby up and move them when they needed too... I'll have to figure out where my LO likes to sleep when the time comes!!

Re: Moses Basket??
I would never carry a baby in one. It may be a nice option if you want to have your baby near the floor, like if you like to sit on the floor. They look nice but they are not essential. I would rather have a bassinet than have a basket with a holder.

Re: Moses Basket??
in the minority here but i LOVED mine! i had a well made one and it was not a piece of junk or whatever. i could put the baby in it whenever and wherever. i could gently lift it and put it into the crib if need be too without disturbing her. it was great too when i had baby #2 and was taking care of a 2 yr old..my DS slept in it right there on the living room or playroom floor. at night i kept him in it next to my bed. i have a small house so this thing was a life saver. i can see why it works so well for some!
ETA i wouldn't walk all around the house with baby in it ,but i think it's fine to transport gently and carefully if need be. some people might think its ok to walk around with it like a basket but i wouldn't worry about gently transporting baby in it as long as youre not careless about it.

Re: Moses Basket??
I loved mine, but I didn't carry the baby in it. I live in a raised ranch, so the living room and bedrooms are on the same floor. I kept mine downstairs in our playroom so I could nap the baby and still play with my older DS. It took up a lot less room then setting up the pack n play.
