Need to let it out
The end of July I found a mass on my neck. I went right to the Dr, whom sent me for a MRI. Results came back that it looks like a cyst, but a catscan is needed. I went to LIJ to have the scan and they found another mass in the middle of my neck. It's near my lymphoid. Thanks to insurance (which I am grateful for having), I have to wait for authorization before rescheduling the scan to include both masses. I also need a biopsy and the next appointment isn't until the 23rd. They say both masses can be anything from nothing to infections to lymphoma.
My mom battled lymphoma a few years ago, so obviously my mind is going in bad places. I really don't want to fill too many friends in, since at this point there's just nothing to say. DD is a great pick me up, but I hate feeling helpless until the appointments/scans...I guess that's what led me to posting here. That, and I'm trying to stay away from google!
ADDED AN UPDATE - Not much to report though!

I know you are scared, and I understand not wanting to tell many people right now. I would be the same way. Praying that you can focus on the positive till the appointment, and of course that it ends up being absolutely nothing.

definitely stay away from google. Try not to worry unless someone tells you there is something to worry about. It's alot to think about but you have to worry about today and live in the now otherwise you'll go nuts.

Im sorry you have to go through this
But here's a little story of hope.
The beginning of May, I woke up with severe chest pains. LIke nothing i've ever felt before. It would come and go but by the end of the day I couldn't even sit down it hurt so bad. DH rushed me to the ER, I really thought it was a heart attack.
They did an EKG, blood work, X-rays..nothing. By then the pain subsided and I was asking to go home. They said No, we want to do one more test..a CTscan. Ugh Fine.
They come back a few hours later "Everything looks OK, but we see a mass in the center of your chest" Umm how is that OK?? I freaked. Contacted thoracic surgeons ASAP. Got in to see the best ones on LI and NYC.
I decided on the city doctor. They did a PETscan and more blood. Definitely had a mass, the size of an egg. Didn't care what it was I just knew I wanted it OUT. They agreed. Surgery was schedule 2 weeks later.
They couldnt do a biopsy b/c it was located behind my brestbone. Even if they biopsied it no matter what it had to come out, so might as well do that all together.
Had the surgery, and the surgeon came out of the OR and told my family it wasnt the size of an egg, it was "Slightly bigger and heavier than a GRAPEFRUIT" 
They freaked out, thinking it was bad.
Waited 5 days for pathology report and everything came back great. NO signs of cancerous cells, malignancies of any kind. Just a big tumor which they think came from my Thymus gland (which normally disappears by puberty). They said the size of it and color they were shocked it was all ok. But it was and thats all that matters.
So I know it seems bad but try not to think the worst!!!
Eta- my chest pains actually had nothing to do with the mass. Someone somewhere just wanted me to stumble upon it  guess it was for the best in the long run

Update - Insurance approved the second catscan...Just more waiting to get the authorization to the Dr's and then I can set that appointment. Dr's trying to move up the Biopsy, so we'll see what happens there. Sooooooo ready for it to be Friday!
