UTI help
I'm in a ton of pain and I'm pretty sure I have a nasty UTI. I'm away at SIL's house right now and she has some Cystex and Azo. Does anyone know if either of these are safe to take? I did leave a message on my doctor's emergency line but they said the wait time for a call back is 2.5 hours and I can't imagine being in this much pain until they call me back. I'm 19 weeks.

Re: UTI help
I wasn't sure so i googled it and found this...
FDA pregnancy category B. This medication is not expected to be harmful to an unborn baby. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant during treatment. It is not known whether phenazopyridine passes into breast milk or if it could harm a nursing baby. Do not use this medication without telling your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby. Re: UTI help
Based on the lack of responses on this thread I guess not many girls had this problem. I'd like to be helpful to future pregnant women just in case someone searches this topic in the future. The on call nurse called back and told me not to take anymore azo (I did end up taking it because I was in tears from the pain). She didn't say it was dangerous but she just said not to take anymore. She called a 24 hour CVS and prescribed me an antibiotic and told me I can take tylenol for the pain and take a warm (NOT HOT) bath with baking soda.

Re: UTI help
Get the OTC test to confirm u have one and call your ob back. 2.5 hours seems like a long time. I had the same thing and they called in a prescription for me afteri confirmed that the firs test was positive. Feel better uti stink.

Glad you were able to talk to the nurse! The antibiotics should help you feel better!

Re: UTI help
I had a UTI at 15 weeks and had to go to the ER (it was a Sunday and my dr's office was closed and I was in so much pain and vomiting) The ER ended up giving me antibiotics and I was told to drink LOTS of water.
i was able to take Tylenol for pain

Re: UTI help
I wouldn't take any antibiotic w/o my doctor's ok.
To help with the burn, put two tbsp of baking soda in 2 cups of water and stir well. It tastes vile, but it really helps and it's safe.
