Contact paper for new cabinets necessary?

We are just finishing our big kitchen renovation and dh is all about the contact paper to protect the cabinets, but I really hate the way it looks! Also, I love our new cabinets and just want to keep them natural.

My question is, is contact paper really necessary?? Will my pots and pans really damage the inside of the cabinets?

TIA!

I would never put contact paper, I feel that ruins it in the long run. Maybe those non slip grip pads, but nothing that gets adhered to the cabinets.

My kitchen is 2 years old and we just packed it up to move and none of my cabinets are ruined. If you take care of them you shouldn't have any issues. I vacuum them when I reorganize the cabinets and wipe them down inside.

Please. No contact paper.
My cabinets weren't brand new when we moved in so I did get that non skid liner to line the cabinets after I cleaned them but if I had brand new cabinets & I was the first owner, I wouldn't use anything. What does your DH think will happen to them?

I wouldn't use anything that adheres. You can try Life Liner. It's a clear plastic liner that you just cut to size & it doesn't stick. I've seen big rolls at Costco. They sell it almost everywhere.. BBB, Target, Amazon, etc

Life Liner

Agree - no contact paper!

I would line any shelves you plan on keeping food, oils, vinegars on as it helps for easy clean up. I would get the non sticking kind.

Re: Contact paper for new cabinets necessary?

I'm lining my new cabinet shelves with a non-stick liner. I actually just bought it today; "Grip Prints" liner - the one I bought has a pretty pattern to it, so it makes the pot drawers more fun Chat Icon

It adds some cushion for the glasses/dishes and protection for the shelves. My main concern is if something gets put away when its not 100% dry, the water can damage the shelf. And pots scrape them up.

But I would NOT use an adhesive contact paper!
