*****New Pics added 4/17/10******Updated 4/9/10 - Painting my ugly 80's laminate cabinets (w/pics)
I bought my house last year and the $ isn't in my budget right now to renovate my kitchen since I'm a newly single mom. But, I couldn't stand my kitchen cabinets so I decided to paint them. It's still a work in progress but I wanted to share pics since a lot of people aren't happy with their kitchens.
After I finish painting all the doors/drawers and putting them back on, I'm going to put molding on them and then attach hardware (door knobs/drawer knobs) to give it a little more color. My kitchen is 15'x16' and I have 9 ft ceilings so, it's a LOT of cabinets and right now, it's very white LOL

Excuse the tablecloth, Im having a party at my house and covered the island bc its not finished yet
Here are the most recent pics of my kitchen. Still not done but hardware in on cabinets - of course now im thinking i may repaint them a slightly softer white LOL

Some new pictures to show my cabinets all painted and the new floor in. Countertops will go in next week - just doing laminte for now because this is not a big budget project  Moldings and door hardware will go one next week too.

I removed all the cabinet doors and their hinges. I cleaned them all to make sure there was no grease/etc stuck on them and then I lightly sanded the cabinets and the doors (both the laminate and the wood trim). Next I primed everything with Zinzer 1-2-3 primer and let them dry overnight. Then I painted the cabinets and doors with one coat of semigloss white and let it dry for a couple of days (the weather was damp so I gave them extra time to dry). I put a second coat of semigloss white on and let it dry for a couple of days too.
After that, I put the hinges back on and started to re-hang the doors. Once I get all the doors up, I'm going to add molding and hardware (drawer knobs). I'll update with pictures as I get more things done. I'm hoping to get some moldings and hardware on this weekend.
