for when going home from hospital....
we bring a baby going home outfit ...but what about while baby is there? should i bring clothes or will the baby just stay in the blanket in the nursery the whole time?

The baby usually stays in the hospital tshirt they put on the baby and a diaper, we didnt change his clothes until the day we left

You can bring clothes if you want for while you're there, but they will also supply clothes for the baby (usually a very simple white onesie). The belly button stains for a few days where it's clamped off so there's a likelihood of clothes you bring getting stained from that (it's like a bluish/purple ink).
I just brought a coming home outfit for DD and she wore the hospital clothes while there.

I'm not the norm I know but I dressed dd during the day at the hospital. Than I put her back in her side snapped onsie and diaper at night so it would be easy for the nurses to take care of her. I liked getting her dressed each day. I'll be doing it again with this baby.

I left DS in the side-snap shirt, hat and blanket the hospital put him in. i only changed him the day we left.

I actually got side snap shirts (long sleeve) in size newborn from carters... I think I will put two of those in my bag and then just a outfit to come home in!!!

I only brought his coming home outfit and a couple of hats. I put one of the hats I brought on him bc I wanted him to wear something from home.
During my 4 day stay, they put on different shirts, sometimes they were too big on him. I did'nt want to put on any of the clothes from home bc I was afraid they would confuse them with theirs and get lost in the mix. I had a couple of close calls with his hat.
ETA: Those side snap shirts from carters are awesome! DS spent his first month in them. They're pretty cool, they have built-in mittens.

i left dd in the clothes provided by the hospital and only changed her when we left to go home.

I kept DD in the hospital shirt, hat and swaddled in the blanket. They gave me a few of them so I was able to change her. They take the babies for various tests plus their belly buttons are so sensitive I waited until we left to put on a cute outfit.
