did you have visitors right away when you came home from the hospital?

i have had visitors almost everyday since we got home form the hospital, especailly the first and second week. My family is coming over saturday for dinner and my cousin emaield me to see if i was up to it, not knwoing i have had all this company already. When i emaield her back and said i have had company almost everday she wrote back and called me "SUPER MOM". not really sure how to take that since i dont see the big deal about visitors. I guess everyones different but i welcome visitors.

Yes and it was tough for me especially after a c-section. Because company kept coming over, I felt the need to "straighten up" the house which meant vacuuming, etc. I ended up overdoing it and screwing up my incision.

I just had my IL's here when we first arrived home with Julia cause they had to video tape us pulling up to the house, so they came in just to see her real quick then left. My mom and sis stopped by later on to say hello but just for like 1/2 hour. She didn't see anyone else till a couple of weeks, I was to nervous.

Re: did you have visitors right away when you came home from the hospital?

I loved having visitors because it made me feel a little more normal and less overwhelmed. There was like 20 people here when I came home from the hospital. I had my family cooking and cleaning and taking care of the baby. I do not have a family that expected me to lift a finger when I got home, so they were definitely welcome!

Re: did you have visitors right away when you came home from the hospital?

yes and it was very annoying and overrwhelming, 2nd time around I am demanding my alone time- all the visitors really added to my baby blues for some reason they made me really on edge. I know that everyone was excited but postpartum is a tricky time...

Re: did you have visitors right away when you came home from the hospital?

We had my inlaws, my parents and my sibilings witch at 4 of them, my 2 SIL and my BIL. They came around 5pm and left around 9. I will tsay though that my SIL's and BIL asked it was going to be to much and I just didnt have the heart to tell anyone no. I just wanted to get the hang of being a mom and get the breastfeeding down. I did not enjoy my first 2 weeks because my mom and dad were on my case about not calling people to invite them over (I shouldnt be the one calling people, they should call me at least in my opinion) or they said that we werent being good hosts and that we would rush people out Chat Icon .

Just close family. The Grandparents, great grandparents, aunts and uncles, etc.

Re: did you have visitors right away when you came home from the hospital?

My ped. recommended not having too many visitors for the first 2 weeks. DH took this to the extreme and banned everyone from coming over with the exception of my mom who came over one night to cook us dinner. He even had a fight with his sister over it (which I wasn't too upset about anywayChat Icon ) I had a difficult recovery intially so I wasn't in the mood for visitors anyway.

Re: did you have visitors right away when you came home from the hospital?

I had company over, had a c-section and I told everyone that if you want to see me, the baby and DH comeover anytime. If you want to see my house, give me a few months Chat Icon Seriously, My family and friends were AWESOME! They brought over meals, helped me clean, helped me with DD, etc. It was hard for me to let them help, but I did not want to mess up my incision and end up back in the hospital.

ETA: I had purell on hand in every room and forced EVERYONE to use it ALL the time when the went near my DD.

I basically could have written this, I insisted that they come as scheduled.
It was nice to see everyone, especially since everyone does not come to visit often.

Since we live 1000 miles away people booked their flights ahead of time. My daughter came 2 weeks early so the first round of visitors came when she was 1.5 old. nad it didn't stop or should I say slow down untl she turned 2Chat Icon

Re: did you have visitors right away when you came home from the hospital?

We told everyone - even immediate family - NO visitors for the first 3-4 days. It worked and it was SO nice.

I had vistors right away too. The good thing for me was that DH was home and helped me alot. I tried to do as much as I could and whatever I could not do, I just did not do it. If you think it is to much for you, than just mention it to people that right now it is a little hard or I am tired and maybe they can come over another day.
