ER: Many follicles, few eggs- explained
No googling- shhhyeah riiiight. If it's 5am and I can't sleep, it's me and the googs in a booty call
At my ER yesterday, the Dr. mentioned something about "flushing" the follies but all he could get were 10 eggs (over 23 follies counted). I had to google this, and here's what I found- that they'e not empty. There is an oocyte in there that won't detach from the follicle wall- in fact, it is either immature or chromosome-abnormal.

From the link above.... more at link: "It is not uncommon to hear women report that their IVF-egg retrieval yielded far fewer eggs than was expected and that when asking for an explanation they were told by their doctor that many of their follicles were “empty” and contained no eggs. This is at best an oversimplification of a complex situation, or at worst a flagrant misstatement! All follicles by definition must contain eggs."

I had this issue with my first ivf cycle but with a change in protocol for my second, it didn't happen again and I responded much better. However, it's the quality (not quantity) that's most important!!!

I am not afraid to question things anymore, but after researching this more and more, I realize that I wasn't necessarily over-medicated Such a relief, but seriously I think I have OHSS.... all of the symptoms are there
