stressing over visitors when i come home???
Let me start by saying i'm an anxious person to begin with. My dh has a big family. When i came home with dd (had section) the next day alot of his family came over and didnt even call or ask. I was very hormonal,tired & i take anxiety meds so was starting back on my regular dose (was ona lower dose when pregnant)...will be doing the same this time too & hving a scheduled section this time. My mom lives in Florida so will be here staying with us (her i am ok with anything lol). I told dh that this time he needs to ask his family to call before just stopping over especially since i also have dd (2.5) and i want her to nap,get a little adjusted and not have a million interruptions at everyone elses convienience.....am i being mean asking to call befoe coming to see if its a good day or time?????

I don't think it's unreasonable to want people to call first. It's a little annoying that you have to lay down that rule. You would think people would have the common sense to make sure you were ready for visitors; especially if they have ever given birth themselves.

I wouldnt tell them when Im getting out of the hospitals (push it a day) or just say we are not taking visitors the first day home. Hopefully they respect that

ITA! I definitely think people should call first and I personally would feel so weird just showing up to someones house without asking first, even if it was a close relative.

I've been worrying about the same thing and I thought it was just me being over anxious. DH also has a big family and many of them already don't seem to understand boundaries or manners, so I've already been thinking ahead and picturing them swarming our house when we come home. I already told DH that when the time comes I want him to tell his family to give us a few days so I can recover and we can spend some quality time, just us and our LO. I hope they understand, but if they don't they are going to have to get over it. You only get those first days at home with your newborn once.

I think you're 100% right to ask for AT LEAST a call first! How do you pop in on anyone, let alone someone with a newborn?? I was very lucky that neither of our families did this to us. In the beginning I did a lot of my sleeping during the day (which also meant I looked like h*ll most of the time) when DD was first home and up all night. I don't think I would have opened the door if people decided to drop in on us at a time like that. I just don't get how anyone would think that's ok, so rude!

I know I slept also during the day with DD and I would be half asleep and also looking like hell. This time since I have Dd I can't just sleep when the baby does although dh will be home for 2 wks and my mom will be with us so I probably can lol. I shouldn't haven't to worry about hosting, cleaning etc when I come home with the baby!
