OPK false+?
Is it common to get a false + with these OPKs? I have a very irregular cycle, averaging about 35 days. (most between 28 and 42). today is CD9 and this morning, my test line was darker than the control line. It seems really early but with a 99% accuracy rate I am really confused

if you have irregular cycles you might have PCOS. one symptom of PCOS is high LH. LH is the hormone that OPKs test for. they test for a surge but if you have PCOS and high LH your hormone levels will be artificially high even when you aren't surging. the only way to figure it out is either have your Dr. do a bloodtest, or you can use OPKs and temp to see if you O afterwards. for me, I would get days and days of +OPKs at random times in my cycle, but i would temp and O would never follow. eventually after a few tries i would end up Oing around CD30-40 if at all..

Thanks for the replies ladies. I don't know If I have PCOS... Never been tested for it.
This morning I had what I believe is another false + so this may be something I need to explore.
I didn't use the smilies. I only bought one week of smilies and was planning to save them for next week when I am closer to my expected O date. I guess the smilies are more accurate?

Normally I O between 12-14 days before onset of AF.

it sounds like you might have PCOS. you might want to see your doctor and have bloodwork done. if you dont want to go that route you should def temp to make sure you are def ovulating, that way you can determine if you are getting false +s. assuming you are reading the tests right and DON'T have PCOS, you def shouldn't have +OPKs until right before you ovulate.
also smileys are no more sensitive than cheap tests, they're just easier to read cause its either a  or not, so there's no mistaking a negative for a positive.
