What wash/shampoo will you be using with the baby?

We got a ton of Johnson & Johnson stuff at our shower --- not that we registered for it, people just bought it as extras, but I am not sure how I feel about using it.

There has been a lot of negative hype about J&J products in the news lately. On top of that when we had our DD 6.5 years ago we did use J&J first, since that's what people got us, but she had bad baby acne and excema and the doctor said that the J&J may have irritated/dried her skin. Back then we switched to Avenno and eventually Melaleuca products (my mom sold them back then, not anymore) and saw an improvement.

I just went to Target and got some Burts Bee's Shampoo and Body wash for this baby. I figured I might as well start out with something more natural/gentle then J&J given the current bad news stories and my DD's history with sensitive skin. I felt bad spending $14 on a bottle but hopefully it will be more gentle for the baby!

What kind of shampoo and body wash will you be using for the baby?

I will be qusing Aquaphor - that's what we currently use for DS. I used Aveeno and J&J to start with him but, it irritated his skin.

Im going to use Mustela shampoo and Caifornia Baby body wash and lotion. This is my first, so I hope it will work with babys skin. I heard a lot of wonderful things about both product lines.

I registered for Babyganics products. My stepmom just started selling Meleleuca (sp) products which are all natural. I bought some products to test out and they have a baby line I may try too.

We liked the Melaleuca baby products a lot. We've used them for years with DD> We are almost out of the stockpiles of shampoo that my Mom bought for us! She doesn't sell it anymore and so I don't really have easy access to it anymore but would definately buy it again for the baby!

Good to know! She gave me her dishwashing solution yesterday and is ordering me all the cleaning products. If you'd like we can always figure out something if you want the baby products. She just started selling it, and speaks limited English, or I'd give you her info.

I have some organic shampoo from whole foods or Dolphin Organics, purchase online (with none of the bad stuff) I use it on DS and will use it on the new LO.

I have a big mix, I got a few different gift baskets. Aveeno is a majority of what I got.

We'll use the same stuff we use for DS now.

California Baby and Baby Magic as body wash and shampoo.

We also use the Mustela Foaming Shampoo on ocassion and will definitely use it with the baby since it's WONDERFUL to get rid of and prevent cradle cap.

We do not use J&J. I actually returned all the J&J stuff we got as gifts.

We registered for Burt's Bees, my SIL used it for our nephew and recommended it.

Re: What wash/shampoo will you be using with the baby?

DS has eczema so we could never use J&J and Aveeno made his eczema really bad, he had raw, red skin from it and honestly, after reading and researching about the practices of the company, I don't feel that they deserve one penny from my family or feel safe putting that stuff on my son.

We were using California Baby and still have some left over from a year ago, but they also just started adding questionable products that are causing rashes in children with sensitive skin, and lied about changing their formula so I no longer trust them either. I need to find something new to use this month because I'm just about out of the old California Baby body wash and I think I am going to try the Babyganics.

PS. As of 2007, Clorox owns Burt's Bees and there is nothing that says organic on their products, just says natural which could mean anything.

Burts Bees or Method and no other. That is what I registered for so if someone gets me anything else as a gift I will be returning it. I am picky about what goes on my body and I will be the same w/DD- no chemicals for my LO. I also will not use anything that is tested on animals and J&J does animal testing.

Re: What wash/shampoo will you be using with the baby?

I have some babyganics stuff and a lot of burts bees. But after I got all the burts bees I found out that the company that owns them may have started testing on animals again. All the bottles of what I have now say not tested on animals so when I go to replenish I'll see if that is still the case, if not I'll be looking for something new. It's terrible how hard it is to find products that are safe for baby and made ethically.

you are right, I just checked leaping bunny and they are listed as "Cruelty-free subsidiary of parent company that does not comply with the Leaping Bunny Standard", looks like I will be sticking with Method. Leaping Bunny shopping guide
