baby wash vs shampoo

is there a difference b/w johnson & johnson baby wash and shampoo?? Both say head to toe on them so for DD baths (2 months) I just use the body wash everywhere and as a shampoo for now.

Also, do you put the body wash on the face? I put the tiniest amount. DD recently developed acne so i'm wondering if i should be washing her face in soap in the bathe, which i don"t. The acne is only on one side of her face but it's bad-- the side she sleeps on-- do you think it could be the sheet savers? Even though i was them the same way i wash everything else they are rough. wdyt?? Sorry for so many questions!!! tia

DS' ped and even the nurses in the NICU recommended that we not use J&J wash for DS because it is very drying on their skin. The NICU staff gets J&J products for the babies so they HAVE to use it, but they told me and DH that they do not recommend it. We took DS to the dermatologist and they said the same thing. So we don't use Johnson and Johnson anymore.

We use anything from Burt's Bees to California Baby to Baby Magic. I use these all over, but I never put any of it directly on his face. I'll take a washcloth that I dip in the soapy water first and pass it on his face, or nowadays I'll just wet my hand and wash his face a few times like that.

We use aveeno baby wash for DD who is 3 months old. I only started using separate baby shampoo on her head (also aveeno) because she had pretty bad cradle cap (baby dandruff) and some people suggested separate shampoo (it worked great). I don't think you need a separate shampoo though otherwise.

I only use a touch on her face, but she's never had acne from it so I can't advise there. She did have a terrible rash in her neck folds (make sure to clean AND dry well in there!) but that went away in a few days of being careful and some aquafor.

DD does get a little red when she sleeps with her wubbanub on her face so it could be the sheet saver. Try a few days without it and see if that helps.

We used both the shampoo and the head to toe baby wash until the shampoo was all used up.

The acne your talking about sounds like baby acne and is most likely not from the shampoo or wash, its just something thats common occurance due to hormones.

We did use the aquaphor shampoo and body wash in one on DD's face when she had the baby acne and we used it when she got cradle cap.

i would not use J&J either. According to the cosmeticsdatabase.com (great source with ratings for alot of items we use everyday), J&J products has too many harmful chemicals in them.

California Baby and Burt's Bee are two recommended ones that are more easily available.

I just subscribed to Burt's Bee on amazon.com and am using that on my DC. The subscribe and save price is great and you can cancel anytime.

ETA: Sorry I just wanted to say that if your baby is getting acne on the side of her face that's against the sheets she may have sensitive skin. You may want to try using a more sensitive laundry detergent and fabric softener or maybe try a different crib sheet material (I use velour sheets and recommend that material).
