whats the next step...
OK, so DH and I have been trying for 7+ months now... I am 26, he is 28... Do we keep trying with no help? Or do I see my doctor? Do we go right to a specialist??
Is that even possible? To just go to a specialist without seeing your gyno? I dont care for my new gyno... so i would rather just go to a specialist...

Re: whats the next step...
Do you have any underlying issues like endo or PCOS? I have PCOS so I was with my gyn for 2 months and moved onto an RE...You should also check your insurance...some require a referral from a gyn before seeing an RE and others dont...it couldnt hurt to ask your gyn and see if they can do some bloodwork to confirm that you are ovulating and maybe a SA & HSG to confirm there are no issues like that

I'd check with my insurance and if you don't need a referral for an RE I'd call now and make an appt. Good luck

Re: whats the next step...
Around the same time I started asking my GYN for help (I am almost 35). First step was some blood tests for me on CD3 and then later in my cycle to determine hormone levels and ovulation, and an SA for DH to analyze his swimmies. Didn't need to go to a RE at first for that basic testing.

I am fairly confident that at your age they will want you to wait a year before seeking an RE. But you should ask your OBGYN and talk to your health insurance.

Re: whats the next step...
i would think you can call to make an appointment with a specialist, but double check what your insurance requirements are

Re: whats the next step...

do u have reg cycles? do u ovulate?

As far as I know, I do not have PCOS or endo.... I know around when I should ovulate and we go from there.... I took a ovulation test one month and it was never positive... then last month i took one and it was positive... so i THINK i do ovulate...
TMI: I feel like my cycles have been all crazy ever since we started TTC... My cycles can be anywhere from 28-32 days long... and for an ENTIRE week before I get my period, i spot...
I just keep thinking that at my age, it shouldnt be taking this long... and I was a little off on the time we've been TTC for... its been about 8, going on 9 months... Started in July of '11...
I'm gonna call and make an appt with my doctor... but, Im a little scared, 1) if she tells me its too early.. and 2) if something is really wrong! I'm not gonna call until aunt flo is gone...
Thank you everyone for your responses...

Re: whats the next step...
It sounds like you use OPKs but not regularly. Maybe you should start temping and really using OPKs regularly.

I think you're making the right decision by going to see your doctor. Good luck!
