Re: This is the bf support I get..
I'm sorry you're not getting support from people close to you. No one in my family BFed. MIL BF all of her kids and DH was very pro-BFing. I mainly got comments from my family as DS got older about when I was going to stop. I ignored them. I have no idea what, if any, comments I'll get this time around.

Wow. How horrible.
I had nothing but support from everybody when I bf'ing #2. I mean everybody. I can't imagine not having that kind of help around me.
Sorry. Stick to your guns, people are idiots.

WOW! Where do people get the balls to say something like that? I'm sorry you have no support from your family and friends. The ladies on here are amazingly helpful and will support you and give you pointers as much as they can!

Re: This is the bf support I get..
Im prego with #2 and plan to try with this one....I got all the comments from MIL and my mom about bf...the only support I did get was from dh but I had such a hard first week home recovering I was so upset and uncomfortable I gave up
Now we are oos and #2 is due in April...Im terrified that I have NO ONE around to help (dd will be almost 3 by then) but on the other hand I will have more of a chance to do things my way

Re: This is the bf support I get..
It's so interesting, because whatever you do people have a comment. I originally chose not to bf my DS 1 for a number of reasons, one being work, my poor health and diet, another being a history of low supply in all females in my family and just my general uncomfortablenss with it. (Again, it's everyone's personal choice.) Almost everyone was against my choice (MIL, SIL, random people that overheard my convos) and everyone made me quite aware of it. Well, my DS ended up in NICU and was rejecting formulas due to a stomach infection. The drs were willing to continue try different formulas and then I suggested I would pump and it worked. Then at about 6 weeks, my son refused to drink breast milk. He literally screamed when it came near him. I was also not producing enough anyway. With my second baby, I am not planning on breastfeeding. I am planning on pumping and supplementing with formula. It worked with my first and he is as healthy as can be. People need to start minding their own freaking business and keep to themselves. Even if people think they know the whole story they dont.

Re: This is the bf support I get..
wow, I just came across this thread when I did search for BF support for a friend of mine who is really struggling with BF. Some of the comments some of you got really makes me I can't believe some people, why is it anyone's business what you decide to do? BF IS NOT FOR EVERYONE! but some women don't seem to understand that. I BF my DD for little over 7 months. But if and when we have another baby I am thinking I won't be BF. That will be my choice to make and no one else has a say in it. Of course I mentioned this when I was pregnant with my 2nd, before I had a MC couple of months ago and I got that disapproving look from certain family members. They didn't comment on it , but the looks was enough to know what they were thinking I just ignore people and go on with my business, sometimes it's hard, but I try my best. People will always find something to comment on , BF/not BF , working /being a SAHM and so on, it never ends, always something. You just have to do what's best for you andf your family , what works the best for you and your family and go with it. Ignore others, even if it's your own mother or you MIL

Sorry you have to listen to that crap! I went through the same thing and what I learned is that you have to put up the BABY SHIELD!! it blocks out unwarranted and unsolicited "advice"!!

Re: This is the bf support I get..
Ugh, so rude- tell them to keep their opinions to themselves. I plan to BF twins with a toddler running around!
I have a group of mom friends and they all BF- I think it's what helped me stick with it with DS. I had alot of support from them, it was really great.
For all you first time moms- find a mom who BF's and use them for support- it really helps. Or go to the LLL meetings.

Re: This is the bf support I get..
LOL!! Its so sad but this is the usual support. I had a much easier time with number 2 and I had a 21mth old at home. I would nurse and with my other free hand read a book to DS. Granted I stopped at 6mth when I went back to work (I am a crappy pumper), but I didn't care what people said. Do what you want..its your baby! LOL!
