A 5 gallon Homer bucket. I wrap the turkey in a black garbage bag first, add the brine to the bag and then put it in the bucket. Tie the bag and then pack ice on top of the bag and leave it in my garage. I add ice as needed.

Really? Outside?

I don't know if we are cold enough in NC?

Do you think the bucket in a cooler with tons of ice will work?

What temp does it need to be?

Oh, NC? Maybe you should use a cooler instead? Or double-wrap in garbage bags and put in an aluminum pan in the fridge. My garage is unheated and stays very cool.

Will a turkey fit in a big pot? Probably not right?

I'm really interested in the brining....now I'm thrown with the overnight storageChat Icon

What about a restaurant bus bucket? Do you have side by side fridge or regular?

I have a pretty large bottom freezer.
So I have a side-side fridge up top.

Re: Turkey briners, what do you use to soak your turkey in?

DW has been brining for years. We used to clear out the bottom of one of our refrigerators, and keep the turkey in there in a large pot, but now, we put it in a garbage bag with the brine, then put the two birds in their bags in a cooler with ice. We keep it outside, because even though it's not usually cold enough, it's colder outside than inside, which keeps the ice slightly longer than keeping the cooler inside.

I just bought a brining bag at Stop n Shop so I'll use that and then put it in a cooler or on the roasting rack in the fridge.
