170 a week for long term disability?
Does anyone know if this is really all you get?

it used to be $187 but thats before taxes are taken out. yes its about right, its peanuts.

Wow! Well, I didn't think I would even be eligable so I'll take it. It just makes me grateful that I have other resources. How do people survive on that?

If you mean NY state disability yes it's $34/day or $170 a week.
it's disgusting really but like you said I guess better than nothing.

Yep!!!!!!!!!
But anyway, I am a Social Worker and I was informed that when you are on maternity leave and your maternity salary falls below poverty level, then you can collect temporary benefits. Not too sure that it helps those on LI but maybe someone may find this helpful. Maybe it would help a single parent making 170 a week.

FWIW, if you have vacation time and use it during your maternity leave, you can collect vacation pay and disability at the same time. I actually made more than I usually do last time bc of the disability pay. (You won't get disability pay if u use sick/ personal time, only vacation time.)

At my job if you use your vacation time you have to hand over your disability check. Its either/or not both. Not sure why/how but I know this is the way it works.
