moses basket
2 questions in 1.. sorry..
i was thinking of getting one, since I not getting a pack n play to LO to sleep in during the day..
can i carry the baby around in it for a few seconds like, from curb to car and back? I wasn't planning on getting an infant car seat, just a regular car seat (space, storage are issues).. should i get an infant carseat? if you don't have one, how would you get the baby from the carseat to the house? I sound so clueless.. OMG..anyone with any ideas or suggestions, please enlighten me.

I don't actually know anything about Moses baskets, but... why couldn't you just carry the baby in your arms??

Re: moses basket
if you're not going to use an infant carrier -- then the easiest thing would be to just take the baby out of the convertible car seat and carry them inside. It seems odd to take the baby out of the car seat just to put it in something else to just carry them inside.
To be quite honest I would HIGHLY suggest getting an infant car seat. It's so much easier to transfer your baby in and out of the car, especially since they will likely fall asleep in it and it would stink having to constantly wake them up to remove them. Get the infant seat and then later (if space is an issue) purchase a convertible car seat and get rid of the infant one.

I agree. I couldn't imagine not having the infant car seat for at least the first couple of months.

Re: moses basket
I had a moses basket and found it very helpful to carry from room to room when DD was asleep when she was very young. I'd put her to sleep in the basket while in the living room, carry her into the bathroom with me while I showered, into the bedroom to dress, into the kitchen to cook, etc. All while keeping her asleep. I guess I could have just put her in her crib and left her there and carried the monitor around, but it was nice to have another, more portable option.

Honestly, yes. Those first couple of months, all they do is pass out in the car. The infant seat is such an easy way to transport them without having to wake them. You don't have to get a convertible seat until a few months down the line. When the baby is ready to move up, you can get rid of/sell the infant seat to make space and then get a convertible seat, you certainly don't need to get it right away.
To address the moses basket, that's not what you would really use it for. It's big and flat, I used it downstairs in my house as another place to lay the baby when he catnapped during the day(we didn't get a pack and play because of space issues so this was a great alternative).

Re: moses basket
I liked my moses basket but it was not convenient to carry around with the baby in it, not very safe if you ask me. Although it was perfect for her to sleep in but only for the first three months or so.
The infant car seat is a necessity IMO I got the Chicco Keyfit30 and DD still fits into it at over a year old! Right now we use it as an extra car seat but I still love that thing (when DH is around to carry it! LOL)

Re: moses basket
thanks, everyone! I think will get an infant carseat. It's just I was a little concerned carrying a newborn in my arms from the car to our apartment, especially if the baby was sleeping and stuff, that's why I thought of the moses bag.. thank you ladies!!
