At this stage, it has plenty of time to "coreect" itself and move up. If it doesn;t by the third trimester, then many times there are talks about c sections and some bedrest depending on the severity of it...

But again at 16 weeks...it's not super common but it's not cause for alarm. :)

Re: Low placenta at 16wks....

My friend who just had her baby had a low placenta at that point. She was on pelvic rest so no sex and she had to rest with her feet up as much as possible, but she wasn't on bed rest. She had a mild episode of spotting but after a few weeks, her placenta moved up. Hth!

Re: Low placenta at 16wks....

I had this at 18 weeks. I had complete placenta previa (completely covering my cervix or birth canal) and by 22 weeks it was only partial previa (to the side of cervix and not covering), so basically as my uterus grew the placenta moved more up...if that makes sense (and if i am using the correct terminology). The Dr told me I couldnt work out, have sex, or exert myself too much. I have an appt tomorrow to see if i can at least start going on walks since it has moved away from my cervix. By 16 weeks I would say the chances that this will correct itself are high!

I had a low placenta at 16 weeks. My OB said that in most cases it moves and that I shouldn't be concerned. Well he was right! At my 33 week sono the placenta did move. I wouldn't worry until the 3rd tri.
