Sick and tired
Literally! I caught my husband's cold and now I have a fever and a bad cough. I've been taking Tylenol and had Wonton soup for lunch with some CHinese food. NOT A GOOD IDEA!!! I'm also battling m/s. I'm 12 weeks and nervous for baby. My husband called the doctor and she said to take Tylenol and robitussin. I'm trying to drink a lot but it's hard to keep things down :(
Anyone have prior experience? I'm off so I've been resting BUT I'm just nervous :(

Re: Sick and tired
I had pneumonia for 2.5 weeks at the beginning of my pregnancy...I was REALLY nervous...
LOTS of liquids, LOTS of rest, all i could take was Tylenol, Regular Robitussin (no DM) and they put me on antibiotics TWO at the same time!!
A Z-pack, which is prego safe, and the other name I forgot, but also safe...there's a whole list of safe antibiotics so if you need one, don't hesitate!!
Esp if you have a fever, you probably have an infection you will need to get rid of...
have you gone to the DR about it???
REST REST REST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hope you feel better!!!
ETA: You're most certainly right about how the chinese is a bad idea...during my pneumonia, DH thought he was being sweet by bringing me home chinese...wonton soup, lo mein, etc...you're sick so I won't elaborate, but mix that with violent coughing fits and m/s...the outcome was NOT good...I have a hard time eating chinese since...stick to bland foods for now k?

Re: Sick and tired
i've just been going through the same thing with food poisoning and some weird flu. the dr. said i can take tylenol, robotussin and prescribed me antibiotics but i ended up not taking the antibiotics. i'm only 7 wks too so i'm totally paranoid that the baby's probably all cooked wrong now. i think by 12 wks, all major developments are done so there's hopefully less of a chance of hurting baby with anything. just trying to stay hydrated and must stick to bland foods. made the mistake of having KFC today (i don't know what came over me) but it was a BAD choice hope you feel better soon sweetie.

Re: Sick and tired
Have nothing helpful to add - except that I feel under the weather as well and m/s is kicking my a$$...
Just telling myself it will pass soon and so worth the great gift in 9 months

Re: Sick and tired
Thanks, ladies! I always feel better listening to everyone's advice and stories on here rather than my dr. (is that bad??) I'm feeling better and haven't had a fever since 2am this morning. I think I sweated it out but I feel like I took too much tylenol yesterday (2 every 4 hours b/c of the fever) But it worked so, I guess that's good.
I hope you girls get better!
It's true about the KFC. You get this moment of feeling great and then one slight craving and you get it. Then 1/2 hour later and it's OVER!!!
Feel better everyone and thank you so much!

yay glad your fever broke!!! i was reading somewhere that early on pregnancy, body temps are a little elevated too which could contribute to the fever. but it's supposed to be normal. i went to see my ob today and told him about the food poisoning/flu and he assured me that it hasn't harmed the baby. then he went on to tell me about how he's had a lot of patients who caught the flu recently too! it's not fun but i guess sometimes it just happens. ogling at the leftover KFC in the fridge now. it's sooo not happening again!

Re: Sick and tired
Feel better DH gave me his cold too and I've been miserable since Sunday night. Like you, I've just been taking Tylenol, eating soup, and drinking lots of chamomile tea. If your sinuses are hurting (like mine are) what I've found to help is laying down with a warm wet towel on my face. Being sick during pregnancy is the worst!!
