Highlights for brunettes
I have dark brown hair and would like honey-caramel highlights. When my hairdresser highlights my hair with foil the highlights come out more blonde then I would like. A few times she has rinsed it with a toner but she doesn't think it's necessary. For those of you with brown hair with highlights do they ever use a toner, after they foil your hair, to get the color your looking for? Also can you tell me how they process your hair, highlights/lowlights? do they ever use a glaze or toner? Thanks!

Re: Highlights for brunettes
When I used to do highlights they used foil and after rinsing they would put toner...otherwise its like bleach blonde...if its light they will do it again and leave it in a little longer.
I usually always show them a picture so they know what I am talking about.

Re: Highlights for brunettes
The same thing happened with me except for this time. I had my hair done yesterday and she used hair color for highlights, than she put low lights in to color the old highlights (so there would be contrast) than she put a mouse on my hair because the ends were still light. It is going to take awhile to get used to because it is so dark compared to blond highlights.

Re: Highlights for brunettes
I havent gotten highlights in years, but when I did, they would always use foils and then a toner afterward.

Re: Highlights for brunettes
When my stylist does it she calls it "color highlights" she doesn't use foil on me, I tend to turn neon orange in foils but the stuff she uses is amazing, turns out gorgeous.
The first time she foiled me, she fixed it with a toner, but she said next time, well try "color highlight", been doing it since, but since prego, I haven't done it in a while
If you need a recommendation in Nassau, fm me.
