If you throw a rinse over your hair to cover highlights...

do you find that eventually the highlights kinda come through again?

I don't want to dye my hair back to its natural shade...would a rinse do it? I should call the salon!

The highlights will come through a rinse. I find they come through permanent color too.

this is exactly what my crazy mind is thinking about doing right now too!
Ive done it before and the highlights will continue to come through for a couple of dye jobs!

Depending on the texture of your hair, and how many levels higher your Lites are, you may have to put in a filler first, then permanent colour.

Unfortunately rinses aren't permanent, so yes, the highlights will come through after a short while.

I've slowly been going darker, and have been doing it at my salon. My colorist has been adding lowlights in between my highlights. It's a nice transition since I don't have totally dark hair now, which I wouldn't really like.

YUP. This happened to me. I had (have) highlights. I thought dying my hair would get rid of them. It did for about 1 week and then the highlights came through. Chat Icon

Maybe I'll just leave it be. I look brunette...but I do have natural (fake natural!) streaks of caramel in the crown. I was toying with going back to dark all together, but she does it so naturally that I go every 6 months and really don't get roots. I just have DH in my ear telling me how much he loves my all brown hair....loser.Chat Icon
