Need BD schedule advice

Good afternoon all!!

So...this will be the first full cycle of TTC, and also my first cycle of Birth Control. I know that since I was taking the pill for almost 8 years, the likelihood of become pregnant on the first cycle is very little. That being said, I would like to try to use the time wisely. What do you think my BD schedule should be? Should I treat it like a normal 28 day schedule since I was regular on the pill, or is there another way? Thanks in advance for any advice that you can give.

Re: Need BD schedule advice

i got pregnant my first cycle off the pill. we just had sex and we got lucky....but not that lucky b/c i had a loss at 9 weeks...

my OB told me we should have waited the 3 months before trying. she didn't say becoming pregnant so soon had anything to do with the miscarriage but she said you never know (and we can't rule it out) since i didn't give my body a chance to regulate first and she said bcps thin the uterus...

i was also on the pill for 8 years

i would just have sex. maybe you can do it a little more often than normal. i think that is the best way to approach ttc. i think the less crazy you are about it the more likely you are to get a bfp. at least that is how it worked for us the first time around.

i think we only had sex 2 times the week i must have conceived. so i don't think you have to crazy with the BDing either. we did our normal routine of every few days give or take Chat Icon

good luck!

What your schedule was on the pill may not be the same off the pill. I was on for 12yrs now I'm off for 6 weeks and my body is going through hormonal hell. I used to be every 26 days this month it was 17. My dr said once your af is done to try and do it every other days to help your chances of getting preggo.

Re: Need BD schedule advice

last month was my 1st month off the pill, in about 14 years... i treated it like a normal 28 day cycle and we did BD every other day between CD 10 & 14, when i *thought* i would have O'd with a 28 day cycle... it was BFN for me... i honestly have no idea if i O'd at all or not, and my cycle wound up being 32 days that time around.
i know it's easier said than done, but try not to make yourself too crazy about it right now, until you see what your cycle will be like. just Chat Icon as usual - more if you can Chat Icon - and what is meant to be, will be. good luck Chat Icon

Re: Need BD schedule advice

i was on BCP for 15 yrs...wanted to watch my cycles for a bit when i went off....well like others have said they were all over the place and I was also in hormonal hell...I hated being off the pill.
I had 3 regular cycles that were 6 weeks long each...then went over 100 days with no AF. Had to take provera to bring on AF and then I started TTC....there was no way of me knowing when I would O....so i used OPK sticks...I O'd on cd52!!!

So if/when you are serious - I highly recommend just POAS...it was the only way I knew when I O'd...I got BFP 10 days later...first time trying!

Re: Need BD schedule advice

when i first went off the pill i had some craziness too. hormonla changes, cycle being a bit wacky. It took almost 5/6 months before i felt somewhat "normal". At this point the general "schedule" for BD that I have heard is every other, which should cover your bases. For me I have a 26-29 day cycle. So we start to BD around CD8 until CD 16 everyother day, sometime more if the mood strikes.
