How often do you need to visit the Dr. once preggo?

So, once you find out you're pregnant how often should your visits to the Dr. be?

This is actually the part of pregnancy I'm least looking forward to, I hate the doctors, always have!

It depends on your OB but usually it goes something like this:

6 weeks
8 weeks
9 weeks
12 weeks
16 weeks
20 weeks
24 weeks
28 weeks
32 weeks
34 weeks
36 weeks
37,38,39 and 40 weeks.

I am not even 6 weeks pregnant and I have already been to the doctors 3 times. My first visit was when I just found out and my Dr. took blood to check my beta and progesterone, second visit was to make sure my beta doubled, and they they wanted me back for a 3 visit a week later to make sure my beta continued to double (I think I only was asked to come back that third time because I previously had an early MC a almost 5 weeks and they are keeping a close eye on everytihng.) Now I am going back this Friday for my first sono appointment and then again the following Friday for my first official appointment with my Doctor (the long appointment where I think they speak about all family history and so on...not too sure about this one).

So by the time that I am 8 weeks, I would have seen my OB 5 times. You definitely want to like you Doctors office and make sure you are completely comfortable there, because you will be spending a lot of your time in the office!

Yea its scary because when you have a copay of $20 per visit it starts to add up one reason i have to wait until dec to start is hopefully we will have some money banked to pay for all the visits on top of the regular expenses.

You are right just looked it up states "No copayment for prenatal visits and well-child care." Wow pretty cool i was thinking $20 per visit will add up pretty quickly.

my insurance i didnt have to pay for each visit BUT if i had a sonogram i had to pay a copay...and if it was not a scheduled visit like if something was up while i was pregnant andi went to get checked i needed to pay a copay

For me so far (I'm 14 weeks) it's been like this:

5 weeks-just ran in to do blood test (took 5 minutes)

6 1/2 weeks-1st prenatal appointment (although some OB's make you wait till 8 for this -talk about another 2WW!)

8 1/2 weeks-general checkup on growth. etc

12 1/2 weeks-NT scan at hospital (BIG sonogram)

13 1/2 weeks-quick checkup, NT scan results

16 1/2 weeks-AFP screening (another BIG testing appointment)

19 1/2 weeks-anatomy scan at hospital

That's all I have planned so far, but its A LOT!

Well I have been 2x. . I def only had 1 co-pay though which is great!

I'm going back for a scan next week but then don't have another appt for 3 weeks after that. . I think it often depends on your pregnancy.

I think my poor SIL went 2x a week from about 30 weeks on. .

With my first pregnancy it was monthly until I got to 29 weeks, then every two weeks and at 35 weeks weekly

every doctor is SO SO SO different!!

i was seeing my GYN in the very begning (he's not an OB) -- i had some spotting early on so i was going to him once a week to check my levels... when i was 8w, i started seeing my OB.... my OB visits went like this:

8w
10w
12w (NT scan)
16w (follow up visit b/c i was in the hospital)
17.5w (2nd half of gentic scan)
20w (level 2)
22w
26w

i'm now on visits every 3 weeks instead of 4, so i go back next wednesday (i'll be almost 29w) after that, i'll start on visits every 2 weeks, and then the last month, every week!
