Signing contracts
So our lawyer said to make sure everything is good with the bank before we go and sign contracts bc g-d forbid if something came up we'd be out our deposit...so we just sent in a ton of paperwork to the bank and she called the bank/guy we're dealing with and said that we're good to go...does this sound kosher..I just wante to make sure, bc it seems that it happened to quickly bc I hear that all these things have to happen before we're officially OK'd by the bank...
ETA: We were already preapproved, this is the actual part of sending in paperwork etc...

i'd make sure the contract has a contingency clause that you get your deposit back if you can't get financing

It does, I should clarify, we're not selling our home in order to buy the new home..so the lawyer wanted to make sure the bank didn't turn around and say you're approved only if you sell your house bc you can't carry two mortgages, so apparantly after sending in paperwork they said we should be fine,but it just sounds way too fast...mabye I should just be thankful that it was...
