Ants that come out of nowhere

We just finished a huge reno on our house- everything is brand new!

We never had an ant problem before- and with a new kitchen I am extra on top of keeping it tidy. However more than once now if the teeniest, tiniest, crumb is on the floor we get like a thousand ants! It's really grossing me out- where are they coming from? I vacuumed them all up and made sure I swept really good. I'm just nervous that our new kitchen is built on top of an ant farm

They aren't back ants- they are more reddish brownish Has anyone had this problem? Is it seasonal?

Maybe you disturbed a colony during your reno? When we renovated our dining room and removed the chair rail, a ton of ants came out. They never kept coming back though.

Try putting the raid ant traps in safe places if you have pets or kids. That way the ants that do live will take the bait back to the colony. In our kitchen when it would rain around June, we would get ants. We used those traps for about 2 years and now we don't get them anymore. I assume they brought the bait back to the nest and it killed them off finally!

We get ants every year when the weather warms up I put out the traps too. They seem to do the trick. If I could only remember to put them out before the ants come back.

We had ants once and used the terro ant traps. once all the ants came out we sprayed the whole place with ortho home defence (indoor insecticide) it killed them alland they never came back - HTH

It's a very bad ant season this year. We just completed a kitchen reno and we have the same problem even after spraying several times. But our neighbor across the street has done no construction and has the same issue. She call an exterminator in and we might have to do the same

We had the same problem during the more humid days.
The ants seemed to be just walking across the apartment like a day in the park.
The exterminator came and it got better.
I read online that if you spray them with ammonia based spray, it cuts off the signals they sent to their "friends".
I haven't seen any at all this week.
We aren't talking dozens but it was a few little black ants just making their way across my living room floor.

Try Windex w/ ammonia.
